Dunmore is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States, adjoining Scranton. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania and was settled in 1835 and incorporated in 1862. Extensive anthracite coal, brick, stone, and silk interests had led to a rapid increase in the population from 8,315 in 1890 to 23,086 in 1940.
The family bought a piece of land in Dunmore, Pennsylvania and built a factory there that opened in 1962. In addition to the factory, the building housed a full-service restaurant and a retail area. The restaurant was converted into a candy shop in 1973. In 1988, the company constructed the Gertrude Hawk Corporate Center.
A reservoir on Little Roaring Brook was owned by the Dunmore Water Company in the early 1900s. The Pennsylvania Coal Company historically had land along the stream. A concrete culvert bridge carrying Interstate 84 over Little Roaring Brook was built in 1961 and repaired in 1996. It is 21.0 feet (6.4 m) and is located in Dunmore.
