Website. lboro.ac.uk. Loughborough University (abbreviated as Lough or Lboro for post-nominals) [8][9] is a public research university in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. It has been a university since 1966, but it dates back to 1909, when Loughborough Technical Institute was founded.
The club was founded in 1920 under the name Loughborough College. They joined Division Two of the Leicestershire Senior League in 1966, where they remained until 1972. [ 1 ] The club then left Senior football, and did not return until 2007 when they were promoted to the Premier Division of the Midland Combination .

Recent history. The men's 1st XI compete in the Men's England Hockey League and were winners of the BUCS championships for eight of the past thirteen years. They have also won the National Indoor Championships four times since 2003, as well as gold (2004) and bronze (2005) at the European Indoor Challenge, and were quarter-finalists in the Euro Hockey League in 2008.
