NJOI is a Malaysian free-to-view satellite and digital television service launched on 18 February 2012 in collaboration with the government of Malaysia and Astro. [1] It was officially announced by Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister, Najib Razak, on 20 December 2011. [2] At launch, the service offered 18 television channels and 19 radio stations.

Astro Vaanavil was upgraded from SD to HD on 1 June 2020, and made available for all Astro customers. For NJOI customers, the HD version is made optional by purchasing the HD pack, while retaining the SD version which is assigned to a different channel number. The SD version of Astro First ceased broadcasting and transmission on 1 July 2020.

On 5 August 2020, Disney Junior upgraded to HD on Astro alongside Disney Channel. On 1 January 2021, the channels ceased operations across Astro and Astro-owned TV providers (including NJOI and Kristal-Astro) in Malaysia due to the launch of Astro's Refreshed Kids Pack that announced back on 14 December 2020.
