Alamance County ( / ˈæləmæns / ⓘ) [1] is a county in North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 171,415. [2] Its county seat is Graham. [3] Formed in 1849 from Orange County to the east, Alamance County has been the site of significant historical events, textile manufacturing, and agriculture .
The current Alamance County Courthouse that sits on the National Register of Historic Places, began construction in 1923 and was opened to the public on November 23, 1924, at a cost of $253,925.82. [7] The courthouse was built in the Classical Revival style and features terracotta stonework, dental tooth molding, and metal-masonry floors.
