The New Journal and Guide is a regional weekly newspaper based in Norfolk, Virginia, and serving the Hampton Roads area. The weekly focuses on local and national African-American news, sports, and issues and has been in circulation since 1900.
It was a locally owned, family enterprise from its founding in 1865 at the close of the American Civil War until its sale to Tribune Publishing in 2018. Its headquarters is in Newport News, and prior to 2020 was in Norfolk. The Virginian-Pilot is owned by parent company, Tribune Publishing.
Norfolk was one of Fidelity's first acquisitions as it built CNC in the 1990s. It was dissolved in early 1996, when CNC realigned its operating units by geography, assigning the papers to its new West Unit. Properties.
