The Fairfax County Public Schools system (FCPS) is a school division in the U.S. commonwealth of Virginia. It is a branch of the Fairfax County government, which administers public schools in Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. FCPS's headquarters is located near Falls Church.

The West Potomac Academy is one of six academy programs within Fairfax County Public Schools and prepares students for post-secondary education and the workforce with a focus on their intended field. History. South Lakes High School opened in 1978 with grades 7-10. Students in the first 10th-grade class had attended either Herndon or Oakton High Schools for grade 9. In the 1979-80 school year, the school had grades 7-11. [2] Langston Hughes Intermediate School was supposed to open in the fall of 1980, but there were construction delays.
