HCHS is unique from other Bexar County magnet schools in that it operates as an independent campus rather than as part of a "parent" school (See Business Careers High School or Communications Arts High School). Northside ISD is a small, rural school district with one school campus serving all students in grades K-12. The district was created in 1936 following the consolidation of several smaller schools.
