Cabarrus College of Health Sciences evolved from the Cabarrus County Hospital School of Nursing, founded by Louise Harkey in 1942 as a three-year diploma program to meet the demand for registered nurses during World War II. [3] February 2, 1942: Sixteen students enter the new nursing school.
Cannon School is located in Concord, North Carolina in Cabarrus County, on a 65-acre (26 ha) campus on Poplar Tent Road near the Cabarrus–Mecklenburg county line. In 1933, the school burned down, and was rebuilt in 1934. In 1951, the school was renamed A. L. Brown High School, and the school moved to a new building southeast of the old facility. The former building was converted into a junior high school, under the name Cannon Junior High School. [2]
