It was named after the biblical Mount Pisgah. [1] It is situated between the Coast Fork and Middle Fork of the Willamette River, two miles (3 km) southeast of their confluence.

The trail leading to the summit of Mt. Pisgah starts at milepost 407 of the Blue Ridge Parkway on the west side of the road at an overlook labeled "Mt. Pisgah Parking".
