The building and room were lovely. I had an issue with the air conditioning and was not able to get help from the phone number I called. I wasted a lot of time with this because clearly the person who answered the phone didn’t know anything about this property. I asked the manager to call me back and they never did.

You might read some reviews that say this place is inside a Japanese restaurant. It's not. Yes, some of the rooms open up to a hallway that is adjacent to a Japanese restaurant, but you are very much in your own space. If anything, the restaurant is a selling point, as it's delicious. The speakeasy in the basement is also excellent, and we were happy to realize that we shared a building with a place we have been to a couple of times before on our regular Duluth excursions. You may not ever see a staff person, because it is self-check in, but I assure you that they are top notch. Great communication and helpful beyond the call of duty. We will definitely stay here again!

The historic nature of the property was impressive. The furniture and decorative elements were gorgeous. The morning treats were good. Everything was spotless and secure. There was an electrical strip for plugging in devices. However, this property is not for anyone with mobility issues. The staircase is long without sufficient railing. My room had a jacuzzi with shower but it was inaccessible to me because the tub surface was slippery. And bring a book light if you intend to read in the evening.

Nice room, very nice staff. The hotel is really set up to enter and exit in your car, other than the skyways. Leaving to walk to a restaurant felt a little ominous. Super expensive! I thought I was booking 2 nights, but the price was just for one!! I would not have spent that much $ intentionally.
