Re-Charge on the Slopes

ski jacketIt's nice to see that green can be mixed with luxury and the end product is still chic and high-quality. Zegna's Sport line has just come out with their Solar Ski Jacket embedding small solar panels into the neoprene collar of the jacket so the alpine adventurer in you can still have fully-charged phones, mp3 players and other gadgets. They haven't sacrificed any style to accomplish this eco-minded shell but have given the wearer more flexibility on the slopes. I could have used this last week as skiing in the Rockies sometimes means leaving phones on 'roam' between signal areas and my battery kept dying. Just four or five hours of direct sunlight, which Colorado has a lot of, would have done the trick. This sport-savvy coat will cost you $2,250 so you better ski a bunch this season in order justify its pricetag.

Z Zegna Ducati Cologne

I'm loving the brand synergy going on in the luxury field. My favorite motorcycle manufacturer Ducati is at it again. This time partnering up with Ermenegildo Zegna, the makers of men's fashion to create a new bottle for the Z Zegna cologne. The bottle is done in black lacquer with a laser-cut racing stripe and the Ducati name up the side. The scent is a mix of Sicilian bergamot, rosemary and the casoar fruit from New Guinea. The limited edition can be picked up for $60 at Sephora.

Tom Ford Partners With Zegna To Make Clothes

Filed under: Apparel, Celebrity Shopping, Cosmetics and Fragrance

Another day, another addition to the Tom Ford empire. Since splitting with Gucci, Ford has done a fragrance deal with Estee Lauder and put out his own sunglasses out with Marcolin. Now he is partnering with Ermenegildo Zegna to create apparel, shoes and accessories for his own fashion house. Ford's partner-in-fashion from the Gucci days, Domenico De Sole is a director at Zegna so the alliance is not a big surprise. Between the designing, the work on Vanity Fair, and the house in New Mexico, I'm beginning to think Ford must have cloned himself in order to get all these projects done.

Ermenegildo Zegna Spring 2006

Zegna is just a great designer for men that want high style with none of the attitude and pretension of some of the "big boys" of fashion. Zegna clothes are practical above all else and well made for gentlemen who desire fine things without all the fuss. Luxury comes standard on all of this season's clothes. These clothes are made for the Gulfstream G-V crowd and go from boardroom to back nine in no time at all. Overall, Zegna is about comfort and classical Italian clothes making, cutting edge and completely in style. Available at Bergdorf Goodman and Zenga Stores.
