Oh The Horror! XM Makes Its Way Into a Ferrari

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Ferrari purists, you might want to be sitting down for this one.

Years ago, it was sacrilege when Ferrari put so much as a radio in its cars, which at the time were likened to off-track race cars and sported similar amenities -- next to none. Now, as Rolls-Royce and other high-end brands are jumping on the infotainment bandwagon, Ferrari is following suit.

Modena has chosen XM over Sirius for its cars, opening Ferrari drivers up to the world of possibilities that not only offers up satellite radio programming, but also provides NavTraffic, a service alerting drivers to real-time traffic information en route.

The 612 Scaglietti is the first in Ferrari's stable to receive the equipment, which comes with a three-year subscription to new owners.

Which Is More Luxe Sirius or XM?

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

With two new satellite radio deals announced recently, one for XM (Porsche) and one for Sirius (Bentley) I got to thinking, which of these two major satellite radio providers is considered the more luxe based on the brands they associate with. Certainly Bentley and Porsche are of fairly equal cachet, perhaps Bentley has the edge given that the average price of their cars is a bit higher. Looking back over the different brands associated with the two companies I would have to give the nod for better luxe placement to Sirius. Let's take a look at some more evidence based on our past reports:

Limited edition cars:
The XM radio is in the Richard Tyler Saturn Sky
The Sirius radio is in the Saks Mercedes

Hotels:
Hyatt paired with XM radio
The W offers Sirius suites

Oh, and the Sirius radios are also already in Rolls-Royces. Game, set and match to Sirius.
