Woonsocket Bank Building For Sale For A Song
Filed under: Real Estate Developments

You could buy a condo for $625,000 or, if you are in Woonsocket, Rhode Island you could buy a whole building and turn it into condos or whatever else you like. The ornate Rhode Island Hospital Trust building across from City Hall on Main Street has been listed for sale after the current owners abandoned plans to turn the building into condos. The current owners, Woonsocket Main Street Developers bought the property for $400,000 in 2006.
The building is a former bank that has around 35,000 square feet of space, including a lobby complete with Corinthian columns and a gilded ceiling. It was built in 1930 and has elevators, a night-deposit drop box and the original bank vault. The last tenant, the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles, moved out in 2006. Listing agent Garrett Mancieri of Keller Williams Realty, said potential ideas for the building include a boutique hotel, office condos or retail.
