The Chicago Tribune's Elite Street reported that today's home in Winnetka, Illinois belongs to Julian C. Mack, who until recently oversaw global consulting giant McKinsey & Co.'s five Midwest offices. His 15-room contemporary-style mansion is right on Lake Michigan in Winnetka. The five-bedroom home was built in 1973 but was recently renovated. It has high ceilings, beautiful lake views and plenty of wide-open interior space. It is on just a little over an acre of land with over 200 feet of lake frontage and a sandy beach. Mack bought the home in 2000 for $2.975 million. It is listed for $6.4 million with Amy Mack.

Most Expensive Zip Codes: 60093, Estate of the Day

For the next couple of weeks we will be checking out some homes in the most expensive zip codes in the United States, up today, 60093 . This zip code refers to the town of Winnetka, Illinois. Winnetka is one of the North Shore of Chicago's older communities and is known as being one of the best places to raise a family in the area. This zip code has a median price of $1,790,000 with an appreciation rate of 207% since 1990. We've covered Winnetka as recently as last summer as an estate of the day.

Today's home has the type of wide green lawns and Tudor facade that make up many homes in Winnetka neighborhoods. The home is over 80 years old but has been through a major renovation. It has six bedrooms and new hardwood floors and windows. The wallpaper in the breakfast room is bit suspect but overall the new decor looks freshly sprung from the Pottery Barn catalog. The over one-acre property includes a pool and pool house. This home is listed at $4,490,000.

Winnetka Lakefront, Estate of the Day

Today's home sits on Lake Michigan in the posh Chicago suburb of Winnetka. What most endears this house to me is the fact that it truly seems designed for four-season living. The six-bedroom home is just steps to the beach and also has a large terrace for catching the summer sun. There is also an indoor pool for winter that has a fireplace in the same room. The home has large windows that face the lake and a modern style that looks fresh and not chilly. There are seven fireplaces, a wine cellar, media room and a master bedroom with a sitting room. It is listed at $7.85 million.
