Vintage At Heart Wine Riddling Rack

I've seen plenty of companies that sell platters and trays made from used oak wine barrels but this is the first time I have seen a riddling rack used as home decor. A riddling rack is a bottle holder which is used in making sparkling wine. During the champagne-making process the wine bottles are set in a riddling rack and twisted each day to gradually send the sediment toward the mouth of the bottle where it is eventually frozen and then removed. The riddling rack, which is A-framed, holds 120 bottles and can make a very authentic wine bottle holder. The larger racks can cost as much at $750 for the intensive handwork and shipping. Vintage at Heart also sells beautiful old wood vineyard baskets from Moet & Chandon, wine barrel lazy susans and wine staves that have been turned into serving trays.

Infinity Connex Wine Rack

The Infinity Connex Wine Rack is a modular construction made up of interlocking joints that can be expanded, as the name suggests, infinitely. The pieces are made of lightweight aluminum. It takes three to complete a circulare holder for one bottle of wine, and the joints are sold in sets of six. Price: $77.50.

Winetube

We've got a thing for wine racks here at Luxist but this one makes me nervous. It just seems precarious. Kim Almsig designed this wine rack that is made of a polished naturally anodized tube. It mounts on the wall. It would look gorgeous in a spare kitchen or a loft but it makes me vaguely nervous. It sells for $98.

CL Sound Machine

It's hard to say whether the CL Sound Machine is practical, or simply overkill, so I'll let you be the judge. It is a combination iPod docking station, record player, cd player and... wine rack? The triple format audio system is a fantastic idea. Not only does it give you the really interesting, old-fashioned look of a phonograph and the practical ability to play more modern forms of music, but it also allows you to relive some of the classics from the record collection that has been gathering dust in the back of your closet. The question is, is the wine rack necessary? If you have the room and money for this gadget (pricing available upon request), the chances are good that you're going to be able to keep the 12-bottles of wine that the CL holds in another location.

Wine Knot

My grandmother has a wine rack that has been sitting in the darkest corner of her dining room for 20 years, and the only reason that it was moved then was that she moved to a new home. It's not an attractive piece of furniture and many wine racks are resigned to similarly dark corners - not for the benefit of the wine, but because they're unpleasant to look at. This Wine Knot, on the other hand, clearly qualifies as art. It is constructed of slotted pieces of birch plywood, stained light and dark and elegantly woven together, supported by stainless steel legs. It can hold six bottles, plus a magnum-sized bottle in the center star. Price: $98.

This is another type of recycled wine rack, handmade out of two extra-wide barrel staves with a barrel lid for a base. The Recycled Wine Barrel Wine Bottle Racks are constructed from high-quality reclaimed oak wine barrels, finished to protect the wood and insure its longevity, and reinforced with a metal rod. Color and texture varies from rack to rack, influenced by not only the grain of the specific wood, but the wine that the barrel once held. Recycled Chopstick Wine Rack

Today is Earth Day and, in honor of that, it seemed appropriate to bring out something earth-friendly. This unique wine rack is made from over 1,000 single-use chopsticks, the kind that come with Chinese takeout, though these are actually from China. The chopsticks are cleaned and thoroughly sanitized at high temperatures, then stained and bound together to create many interesting furnishings and fixtures. The Wong Wine Rack holds up to 27 bottles of wine. Price: $108.
