Wimmer RS GT2: For When an "Ordinary" Porsche 911 GT2 Isn't Fast Enough
Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos
Some people don't know when to leave well enough alone. We like those people. Like the engineers over at German tuning firm Wimmer Racing Technology, who have taken Porsche's top-of-the-line 911 GT2 and taken it to an even further extreme.
By tinkering with the electronics and replacing the twin turbochargers, camshafts, cylinder heads and exhaust system, Wimmer has brought the overall output up to a stratospheric 680 horsepower and 642 lb-ft of torque. With all that power in the back, the Wimmer RS GT2 can accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 221 miles per hour...plenty of grunt, in other words, to keep almost everything on the Autobahn in its rear-view mirror. Along with the carbon-fiber body kit, re-tuned suspension and 21" wheels, the modifications add an extra $40,000 to the "stock" GT2's $191,700 list price, for an on-the-street cost of over $230k.
