Wigs for Dogs

Many celebrities get hair extensions to improve on what nature gave them, if they don't opt to wear a complete wig from time to time. Ruth Regina, an 8th generation wigmaker with extensive experience working with celebrities, decided that the latest celebrity accessory might benefit from some extra hair, too. In addition to her work on human wigs, she also designs wigs for dogs. Is it really that much of a stretch from dressing dogs up in little outfits and tiaras? Perhaps not. Regina describes them as being "just little people in fur coats."

The pieces can cost hundreds of dollars, depending on the size and style desired. Styles include: "Yappy Hour," a cascade of curls; "Peek a Bow Wow," reminiscent of Veronica Lake; and "Rover R-r-r-rug," which give an appearance similar to bangs. All can be dyed to any color you (or your pooch) desire.

Warhol Wig Fetches $10K

A Christie's auction on Thursday was full of celebrity memorabilia. Marilyn Monroe's black cocktail dress from the movie The Misfits, sold for $66,000, and an address book owned by the star sold for $31,200. A gold linked bracelet given to Carole Lombard by Clark Gable went for $7,800. The Andy Warhol lots, which were offered by the artist's nephew, attracted some of the most attention, though they were not the most expensive items there. A Polaroid of Mick Jagger, taken by Warhol, went for $15,600, while a photo of Muhammad Ali that Warhol had autographed fetched $19,200. And Andy's famous, silver wig sold for $10,800.
