Winsor Way, Estate of the Day

Last time we were in the tony suburb of Weston, Massachusetts it was in 2009 to check out a home listed at $24.5 million. That home has had a price cut to $21.75million putting it above today's home, another newer incredibly lavish home. This home's street name Winsor Way refers to the fact that it was once the home site of the legendary investment banker, Robert Winsor. It is on 3.9 acres of land once owned by the Queen of England. The modern Georgian Colonial estate was completed in 2001. The six-bedroom home is 21,000 square feet and has a wine cellar, home theater, gym, rec room, tennis courts and more. If the other pricey Weston home strived for a cozy, family home look, this one is pure grandeur all the way, built to impress with an obvious display of wealth and formality. It is listed at $21 million.

Willow Road, Estate of the Day

Today's home is one of the most expensive listings in Massachusetts. This home is in the pricey Boston suburb of Weston. The Arts & Crafts-inspired home was built in 2003 and designed by renowned architect Jeremiah Eck. This huge home spans over 33,000 square feet and has a slate roof, belltower-like chimneys, and a stone and mahogany facade. The six-bedroom home is on 13.5 acres that are adjacent to the Weston Country Club. The rooms are huge but the home manages to maintain a certain cozy feel through the use of dark wood, simplified lines and plenty of windows. Many of the rooms on the main floor are double-height with very high ceilings. The lower level seems to include wine storage and a hot tub room. This home is listed at $24.5 million.

South Florida's Latest Ponzi Schemer May Be The Most Brazen Yet

NBC Miami tells the story of another alleged Ponzi schemer. Sean Healy is no Bernie Madoff but he may have walked off with $20 million from his clients most of which seems to have been spent on living an exceedingly lavish lifestyle. Healy and his wife, a former Hooters girl, lived in an extravagant $2.4 million mansion in Weston, Florida. A Ferrari, stretch limousine and several Lamborghinis (a pink-trimmed one for the wife) were parked in the garage and the pair also spent millions on jewelry and tricking out the home (once owned by former NFL quarterback Bernie Kosar, a man with his own financial woes) with a $500,000 home theater. According to a video shot by NBC Miami (embedded after the jump), Healy invested none of his clients money and spent it all on his belongings, inventing big returns out of pure thin air. He is currently under house arrest in New York.

Dan Marino In Weston, Florida, Estate of the Day

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

Add another to our list of slow-selling celebrities (sports stars edition). Dan Marino has had his Weston, Florida compound on the market for around three years. It was once listed at $15.9 million but now, as the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties reports, the famous quarterback will throw in $1.5 million worth of designer furniture and a signed football, too. Marino and his wife Claire are now asking $13.5 million for the 15,000-square-foot Tuscan home. The couple is looking to downsize but it has been slow going.

The Mediterranean-style villa is on a four-acre spot in the Windmill Ranch Estates community. It is surrounded by a lake with fresh bass. The home's large pool area connects the main house with other areas. The property has two guest houses, staff quarters, an exercise room and a wine cellar. There are ten bedrooms total. Even with the over $2 million discount it may take Marino a while longer to sell this home.

Highland Meadows, Housing For the Aging and Green

Two of the biggest trends in housing developments right now are buildings with eco-friendly features and residences for the over 55 crowd. Put them both together and you've got Highland Meadows a new luxury development in Weston, Massachusetts. The Boston Globe reports that the development will have the high-end features such as Sub-Zero refrigerators and Wolf stoves and options for basement saunas and wine rooms. The development also has a network of pipes and tanks that store rainwater to irrigate the property's landscaping. During a dry season it can be supplemented from on-site wells. Waste water from sinks, bathtubs and toilets are routed into an on-site treatment site and then into a leaching field. The 69 condo units will be priced between $1.6 million and $2 million with seven units earmarked for affordable housing.
