Westbury Development
A new community is being developed for
"active adults" in a Chicago suburb. Westbury will be located in Yorkville, Illinois and will be a hub of
five residential villages and a village center. There will be approximately 4,000 homes including luxury, conventional
and courtyard townhomes and single-family ranch and villa homes. The developer
Ocean Atlantic will not build on any of the residential lots, the lots are being sold to homebuilders in pods,
groups of lots designated for a certain product and price point. The development, which is already under construction,
will also have The Shops at Westbury which will offer a variety of restaurants and shopping options and the Westbury
Country Club which will have an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness center and spa. Between
the use of the word 'pod" and the slightly creepy "active adults" this sounds a bit like Stepford comes
to Chicago.
