Julie Feldman's Hornback Weekender, Handbag of the Day

I love the feel of a new bag and when it comes to handbags I have a tendency to find one I like and carry it every day until it wears out, but tote bags... well that's another story altogether. I'm a little overrun with totes in all shapes, sizes, and colors, so I guess it's no surprise that I like this set of Hornback Weekender totes by designer Julie Feldman. It's full of pockets, including 3 interior pockets (one of them zippered) plus a large zippered center-divider pocket big enough for a laptop, and then the outside front pocket. Bags are made of hornback calf suede with alligator stamping and feature a fun print lining. 16" x 9" x 22", $595.

The Croc-Trimmed Weekender by Just Cavalli is timeless with woven canvas, croc-embossed leather trim, and a roomy shape with sturdy design features like thick rolled leather handles and straps that go all the way around the bag. Other features include protective metal feet, a front flap with magnetic closure, and a little dose of fun in the form of an iridescent snake-print lining. If you were traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday, you've probably covered at least half the distance of your trip if you're not already home by now, so the Etro Multi Patch Weekender probably won't be helpful right now, although it could still be useful for any traveling later in the holiday season. The funky bag is made of wool and corduroy with brown and orange leather trim, leather handles and a canvas shoulder strap. It has two expandable front pockets and a zip top closure, so it can hold quite a bit. It measures 18.5" x 12" x 6.5" unfilled, but could expand a bit more if you really needed to squeeze a few extra holiday gifts in. Price: $1,300.

The Juicy Couture Flannel Weekender really a piece of luggage and not a handbag, despite the fact that it is not directly identified as such. Nevertheless, it still seems appropriate for a Friday afternoon handbag of the day when everyone still at work wants to get away. It doesn't hurt that the warm-looking fabric makes you think of visiting the mountains, either.

The bag is made of woven flannel in various green and earth tones and is accented with leather trim, a leather base and leather hand and shoulder straps. It has a zipper for the quilt-lined main compartment and small magnetic snaps for the exterior pockets. It measures 24"L x 6.5"W x 14"H. Price: $425.
