Charmoné Shoes

Charmoné shoes promise to be environmentally friendly, people friendly and animal friendly. Stylish and socially conscious? Sounds good to us. The sophisticated shoes are made in Italy made with no animal products, and without relying on sweatshop labor. Most of the shoes are made with a PVC-free microfiber, which looks and feels much like suede. The shoes are also very breathable, unlike most other synthetic fabrics, so they're very comfortable. On top of their high production values, 5% of profits are donated to the Women for Women International charity.

The pictured shoes are the Charmoné Foxglove, which have an updated Mary-Jane look and a hand-painted "wafer" wedge heel, made with microfiber suede and a metallic (faux) leather trim. Price: $295.

Kork-Ease Leather Wedges

The name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Kork-Ease? Sounds like a new wine closure not a new shoe but Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf's are flogging this latest retro shoe that is available exclusively online through the two stores. It has a suede-covered wedge heel, crisscross upper, buckled strap and golden hardware. The shoe sells for $175 but I could probably unearth a similar pair myself in the back of my mother's closet.  I love a good wedge, like those Prada platform darlings Marsha covered a few weeks ago but these are an inch away from Birkenstock land.
