Lanvin Patent Leather Wedges

Lanvin Patent Leather Wedges
Perhaps it's the excitement and Oscar buzz over Black Swan, but Lanvin's Patent Wedges ($1280) completely reminds me of the movie. I can just imagine Natalie Portman's character wearing these to show her femme fatale side. They are seductively gorgeous and have an air of powerfulness with shimmering patent leather, a nude colored silk ribbon ankle tie which beautifully breaks up all the black, and 1 1/2" platform that instantly forces you to take notice. A subtle detail that speaks volumes is the angled detail on Lanvin's 5 1/2" wooden wedge heels. Wear with wide leg pants for a conservative look or with a body hugging dress to show off your femme fatale side.

Elie Tahari Charlotte Cork Wedge

elie tahari cork wedgeA shoe that is both comfortable and provides an extra 5" inches is rare and a heaven sent. The Charlotte Wedges by Elie Tahari ($398) are just that. They feature a platform cork wedge and a padded footbed which allow for all sorts of comfy feelings for your feet.

Its snakeskin pattern is subtle while breaking up the wedge's ultra white color palette. Giving a dose of dressy are the hints of gold hardware across your toes, along the sole and at the ankle straps, making these fun to wear either with jeans and a top or a flirty summer dress.

Charmoné Shoes

Charmoné shoes promise to be environmentally friendly, people friendly and animal friendly. Stylish and socially conscious? Sounds good to us. The sophisticated shoes are made in Italy made with no animal products, and without relying on sweatshop labor. Most of the shoes are made with a PVC-free microfiber, which looks and feels much like suede. The shoes are also very breathable, unlike most other synthetic fabrics, so they're very comfortable. On top of their high production values, 5% of profits are donated to the Women for Women International charity.

The pictured shoes are the Charmoné Foxglove, which have an updated Mary-Jane look and a hand-painted "wafer" wedge heel, made with microfiber suede and a metallic (faux) leather trim. Price: $295.

[Thanks, Andrew]

Kork-Ease Leather Wedges

The name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Kork-Ease? Sounds like a new wine closure not a new shoe but Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf's are flogging this latest retro shoe that is available exclusively online through the two stores. It has a suede-covered wedge heel, crisscross upper, buckled strap and golden hardware. The shoe sells for $175 but I could probably unearth a similar pair myself in the back of my mother's closet.  I love a good wedge, like those Prada platform darlings Marsha covered a few weeks ago but these are an inch away from Birkenstock land.
