Jon Hamm Wears Jeager-LeCoultre Reverso Grande 986 Watch

Jon Hamm, best known for his role in "Mad Men," is now working with Swiss luxury wrist watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre. Hamm recently hosted a large watch event in New York City to help spread the word of Jaeger-LeCoultre's higher-end pieces including its massively complex Hybris Mechanica set (which I wrote about here). For the event, Hamm was wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande 986 watch. Looks good on him. The art deco inspired style isn't quite the 1960s mod look we are used to with him - but Hamm doesn't exactly "live" in the show. Looking good Hamm.

Zac Efron Wears Cartier Calibre Watch

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Celebrity Shopping

Actor Zac Efron was recently spotted wearing Cartier's newer Calibre men's watch while at the 2010 Deauville American Film Festival. New for 2010, the Calibre is an impressive, large design that melds sports and sophistication rather well - being a larger watch. Connoisseurs appreciate that it contains an in-house Cartier made movement. I first wrote about the Cartier Calibre watches here. Here is is wearing a steel Calibre watch with a black colored dial and an alligator strap. What exactly is he praying for though?

Shia LeBeouf Wears IWC Watch In Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps Movie

IWC watches are displayed on the wrists of the two main characters in the new Oliver Stone movie, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Wasn't this movie supposed to come out already? I think it got pushed. The infamous Gordon Gekko has Michael Douglas wearing an IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar watch in rose gold, while lead Shia LeBeouf is also wearing an IWC perpetual calendar timepiece. Only his character Jacob Moore is wearing an IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar in 18k white gold (model ref. IW376205). I guess they both really like knowing the precise date.

Probably too ritzy for his character in real life (maybe he bought the watch after making the money), the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar combines the classic look of the famous Portuguese models, with the intricate complication of IWC's very popular 7 day power reserve automatic perpetual calendar with the date, day of the week, month, leap year, year indicator, power reserve indicator moon phase indicator, and the time. Like I said, the case is in white gold, just over 42mm wide, and retails for $38,800. Check out IWC watches in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps when it hits theaters soon.

Angelina Jolie Enjoying Her Chanel Premiere Watch

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Celebrity Shopping

Angelina Jolie has been photographed on numerous occasions wearing a curious looking watch. Is was brought to my attention by reader Gabriella (and I thank her), in a serious of different photographs. With her help, I discovered that it was Chanel Premiere lady's watch. it appears as though Jolie has favored this timepiece for a while. Chanel has more than just the J12 up their sleeves. The Premiere collection predates the J12 by a long time I believe, but had recently adopted traits from the J12, just as ceramic materials. Here, the black inner link on the bracelet is ceramic. The watch itself comes in various styles and materials. On her wrist the watch is in 18k gold and ceramic, but the pictured model is in steel and ceramic. The faceted sapphire crystal over the gem cut like case and dial give it the appearance of being like a precious stone. The bezel is lined with diamonds, while the dial is a simple black (also comes in white) with small baton hands. Inside the watch is a Swiss quartz movement. This is a very elegant and classy timepiece, which Angelina pulls off quite well. Prices for this style of Chanel Premiere watches start in the 4,000 euro range, and go up from there.

Bremont Watches Spread In Hollywood - Now Worn By Taylor Lautner

I just recently reported that Tom Cruise has been known to enjoy his Bremont ALT1-C watch and brandish it about town. Funny enough, Taylor Lautner from the Twilight movies has just been seen wearing the exact same watch Bremont ALT1-C watch, with the same anthracite colored dial. Here Taylor is at the premiere of the new Twilight movie with his Bremont.

I quite wonder how word spreads about watches like this within the celeb community. I can't image Tom Cruise likes to hang out with Mr. Lautner - but they aren't the only ones in Hollywood with Bremont - that seems to one of the hot new timepiece brands for the movie star elite these days.

Tom Cruise Focuses Energy On Watches, Wears Bremont

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Celebrity Shopping

IWC has been effectuating a serious campaign getting word out on the fact that Tom Cruise is wearing one of their Ingenieur Automatic Vintage watches (not actually a vintage watch, but rather a modern re-vision of a classic look). They even point out that Cruise "loves his IWC watch." As a known timepiece enthusiast, that is a good sign for IWC. Tom Cruise is certainly a watch lover, and has been for a while - choosing his timepieces with care. In addition to IWC, his passion extends to other fine timepieces as well. A bit lower on the price spectrum, here is an interesting watch that he is wearing. While the IWC Ingenieur Vintage goes for $38,000, the Bremont ALT1-C which he has probably been wearing more than the IWC goes for $5,650. Bremont, the British brand founded by two former plane restorers, is closely linked with aviation. Tom Cruise also has a serious penchant for planes, owning several himself. He is just one of many celebrities that wear Bremont timepieces- others include Bear Grylls, Ewan McGregor, and Ryan Seacrest.

The ALT1-C is based on vintage aircraft gauges such as the altimeter, fuel gauge, and others. You can appreciate the straight forward good looks, and easy to read dial. Cruise seems to prefer his ALT1-C with a black leather strap and ananthracite dial, but the piece is available in three other colors as well. Word from Bremont is that Tom has been know to wear the watch while spending time with his planes. The watch is 43mm wide in steel with a PVD treated mid case barrel and a sophisticated shock resistance system. The dial is super easy to read thanks to the AR coated sapphire crystal. Inside the watch is a COSC Chronometer certified automatic chronograph movement. Really a great piece, and I am happy to see Tom Cruise having good taste in his timepieces. I also did a little hands-on review of another Bremont watch which is a cousin to this piece. See the beautiful Bremont ALT1-P here.
