Modern in Cornwall, Estate of the Day

This modern white home with the large glass windows seems like it should be perched on the California coastline but it's actually in the town of Gorran Haven on England's South Cornwall coast. The modern home has a dramatic entrance featuring a curved glass staircase with polished limestone treads. In the main living area large windows and sliding glass doors lead to a glass-fronted balcony facing south overlooking the garden and sea. The six bedroom home includes a master bedroom suite with en-suite shower room and double hot-tub bath. There is also a home theater and an elevator. The small heated indoor swimming pool has a ceiling with fiber optic lights, a changing room and steam room. This waterfront home is listed at £3,875,000.

Don Imus Asks $30 Million for Connecticut Mansion, Estate of the Day

Caustic radio personality Don Imus has just listed his waterfront Westport, Connecticut estate (above) for $30 million. The 10,000-sq.-ft. white clapboard "Greco-Georgian" Revival mansion features 16 rooms including six bedrooms and six baths, with classic white-painted wooden interiors, a library, and multiple bay windows, the Wall St. Journal reports. The four acre property also has a two-bedroom guest house and a two-bedroom gatehouse with parking for six cars.

The estate boasts 215 ft. of sandy beach frontage on Long Island Sound. Imus, 68, bought the property in 1997 for $4.6 million and finished building the house in 2000. If he does manage to get $30 million for it, he'll beat the price record for Westport - the tony town known for famed resident Martha Stewart - held by the $25 million sale in 2006 of talk-show host Phil Donahue's house, the Journal notes. Waterfront in Rhode Island, Estate of the Day

With a view like this you could put up practically anything and it would sell but the builders went for a traditional exterior and a luxed-up exterior for this Jamestown, Rhode Island home. The four-bedroom waterfront home was designed by Gordon Clark III. Inside the home has a marble foyer, lined with four architectural columns that leads to a great room with 22-foot arched windows. The home also features a SieMatic kitchen with high-end appliances, green marble countertops, Italian tile flooring, gas fireplace, and 10-foot tray ceilings. The home also has a second-floor media room, a billiards area and a wet bar. There is a private deepwater dock with two moorings and a large entertainment pavilion, with a built-in double barbecue. it is listed at $5.795 million. Centerville River Home, Estate of the Day

This week I'll be writing from my childhood stomping grounds on Cape Cod, Massachusetts so I had to take a look at the top property in my hometown. This brick home was built in the 1920s, a time when vacationing on the Cape was perhaps at it's most luxurious. The home has views of the Centerville River, East Bay and Nantucket Sounds and has immediate access to a white sand beach and a deep water dock. The property also includes a gunite pool, two bedroom guesthouse and a unique stone tower. The six-bedroom home could use a bit of an interior update. It is listed at $8.2 million. Sandcastle, Estate of the Day

Many of the houses in Newport, Rhode Island are old classics but not this beauty. Sandcastle is a modern home which was built in 1991. Designed by Bill Burgin, the home has beach and ocean views from many rooms and includes deeded rights to a private resort beach. The first story features large open windows and floors of imported African bubinga wood in a Versailles palace design. The gourmet kitchen has granite counters and stainless steel appliances. The master bedroom has a fireplace, oceanfront balcony and a marble bath. There are three additional bedrooms with marble bathrooms. The third floor observation room has a wet bar and there is a lower level family room with a wet bar. The home also has an ocean-facing lap pool for workouts with a view.
