Warren & Wetmore Carriage House, Estate of the Day
Filed under: Estates

Usually when I think of a carriage house I think of somewhere smaller than this expansive home in Tuxedo Park, New York. This Warren & Wetmore designed home is carriage house living on a grand scale. The stone house was built in 1886 by Pierre Lorillard (as the carriage house for his massive estate Imlagh) and designed by James Brown Lord and by architects Warren & Wetmore. Lorillard founded the town as a sportsman's retreat and it is home to many stately manor homes. The property is a combination of three separate parcels with 8 acres in total. As you can see above, the building has a central tower with two wings.
The home has grand scale living room with a 24' vaulted ceiling. There are seven bedrooms total and rooms including a private office and a library. The dining area looks out on Tuxedo Lake. The stable wing could be used for a car collection, indoor gym or pool, or spacious studio. The home also now has a spa room with a sauna, steam shower and hot tub, a large gym/studio/play area/media/lounge area and a full wine cellar. This home is listed at $12.5 million. After the jump, live in the garage has never been so luxe.
