SCIN Wall Tattoos

There is no end to what we can use to decorate the walls and a wall tattoo is just another word for a slightly different take on some of the other designs that we have seen over the past few months. The appeal is that wall tattoos look like stenciled-on paintings, but require no paint. They can be used on mirrored, painted or papered surfaces and come in four gorgeous designs: Hibiscus, Chrysanthemum (in burgundy and white), Blossom and Butterflies. The size varies from design to design, but each is fairly large and would make a fine accent to a room on its own. Price: £39 each.

Masques Wallpaper

If paint or wall panels are too ordinary for you, wallpaper just might be the way to go. You can't select just any old wallpaper, of course, but Masques wallpaper, from designer Aurelie Mathigot is above and beyond almost any other design you'll find. The paper uses a combination of digital photography and embroidery, sequins and other hand-sewn details to create a look that is complex and truly remarkable. Like the Books Wallpaper that Deidre pointed out last week this paper is also available from The Collection and sells for €296 ($377) per unit (3m x 55cm).

Books Wallpaper

Nicole is usually the goddess of great wallpaper finds but I decided to chime in with a find of my own. Tracy Kendall has a series of witty wallpaper designs for The Collection. The wallpaper designs include stacks of vintage paperbacks, magazines, books and even plates. The wallpaper sells for approximately $70 per meter and is made of washable, repositionable vinyl paper.

Flavor Paper Wall Covering

Flavor Paper produces a line of unique custom and handscreened wall coverings designed to add a new layer of - what else - flavor to your home's design. Every roll is printed to order, so customization is easy, whether you are looking to add an extra color to one of their basic designs or have an idea in mind for one of your own. Pictured is the Bubbly design, inspired by the rebuilding of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, but appropriate for any room that needs a bit of livening up. The two or three colors can be layered to create the perfect atmosphere, whether it is the glam gold champagne look, or a soothing, blue-tone undersea bubblescape. Price per roll: $150-200.

Cover Your Walls With Cash

Wall panels may be "in" and wallpapers are "out," but if you have your heart set on wallpaper, you might want to try using the one the one thing that will never go out of style: money. The US Bureau of Engraving and Printing sells uncut sheets of currency that can either be framed and put on display or, if you really want to go all out, used as wallpaper to create a really unforgettable atmosphere in your home or office. The sheets are available in bill denominations from $1 to $50 and vary in size. Each piece is priced accordingly, ranging from $900 for a 16-bill $50 sheet to $31 for a 16-bill $1 sheet.

Carnaby Wall Panels

Featuring oversized paisley swirls that evoke the 1960s without including the bold, contrasting colors the patten so often came in, Carnaby Wall Panels give a tremendous amount of flow and movement to a room. Since the pattern is monochromatic, walls that use the panels will not look too busy, but will instead simply look elegantly textured. The panels measure 96"x46" and adhere to the walls using screw-on panel cleats, included with purchase. Pricing varies by color, and there are ten to choose from in addition to the silver pictured, which is $685 per panel.

And does that chair look familiar?

Cityscape Wallpaper

The Cityscape Hangers were charming, but small. The Cityscape Wallpaper collection, on the other hand, turns an ordinary room into a show worthy one, creating a uniquely contemporary wall design without the repetitious patterns that wallpapers typically feature. Printed on high-quality paper, the print is made from a custom drawing. The skyline would make a sunning accent wall, and using the paper all-over would definitely create a metropolitan atmosphere in a large, open loft. There are six different colors available in the collection, with the "City Mirage" pictured here. Price: £143.00 per roll.

Lost in the Woods Wallpaper

Looking at different wallpapers is even more fun than actually wallpapering your home, even though you don't get the satisfaction of seeing your home with a beautiful new look. But not only does it actually require less physical work, but you can (mentally) decorate your home with more designs than you could conceivably use in good taste, not to mention that you'll be able to pick out the ideal pattern with no regrets when you are ready to redecorate. For those looking to have an escapist feeling, this Woods Wallpaper is one of the most interesting papers we've seen. The repeating imagery, when wrapped around a room, will actually make it look as though you're in a forest. Price: £35 per roll (to the US).

Kaleido Wallpaper

For yet another way to decorate your walls, Jocelyn Warner's Kaleido paper certainly offers a beautiful possibility. Available in six striking colors, the idea of the paper is to capture the fleeting images from a kaleidoscope to add a sense of wonder to the room. Some of Warner's designs are described as "soothing," and though I certainly wouldn't use that tern to describe this pattern, it would make a gorgeous accent wall in a large room. If you do all the walls, there is a slight risk of giving the room's occupants the feeling that they're stuck in a kaleidoscope, not simply looking at one. Retail prices for Warner's wallpaper start at £59 per 10m roll, but vary by design.

V2 3D Wallpaper

Wallpaper is the new... paint? Instead of leaving walls as solid colors, no matter how bright the color choices are, more and more people are opting to give their homes a further degree of interest with wallpaper. There are an almost unlimited number of patterns to choose from, but for a really unique look, textured paper is the way to go. MioCulture's V2 3D Wallpaper can give a room more than just the appearance of texture. The wallpaper comes in square "tiles" that are made out of 100% recycled paper. The pattern on the tiles extends 2.5-in. from the wall at its highest point and, by varying the tile positions, you can create a fantastic array of designs that will please the eye and "interact with space around you." Each tile is 12x12-in and they are sold in packages of 12 for $28.
