Fashion Accessories for the Motoring Gentleman from GTO London

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Men's Style

Some people are easier to shop for than others. Connoisseurs of fine wines, cognac, whisky, cigars and any of a dozen or more different forms of the finer things in life will be easy to please come the holiday season. Lovers of classic cars – be they owners themselves or simply enthusiasts – have no shortage of gift options available to them as well. Case in point the latest collection from GTO London.

Now those three letters will be immediately recognized by Ferrari fans as having adorned some of the most devastatingly quick vehicles ever produced in Maranello: the '60s-era 250 GTO, the 288 GTO of the '80s and the latest 599 GTO. These accessories for the motoring aficionado may not be licensed by the factory, but they certainly carry the same spirit.

GTO London is an offshoot of GTO Engineering, one of the world's experts in classic Ferrari restoration. Their range includes such items as cufflinks, wallets, tie pins and – suitably enough – keychains, of course. They're crafted from leather, silver, gold and even reclaimed "real Ferrari metal" from GTO's restoration projects.

Wallets by Tracey Tanner

I just discovered Los Angeles-based designer Tracey Tanner--and her fabulous wallets. The wallets, which come in leather or cork, measure about 7'' by 4'', so they're small enough to fit in the back pocket of your jeans, but large enough to hold credit cards and cash. Inside, the wallets are lined with interesting materials (prints with skulls or flowers, for instance), while Tanner also makes bags, wristbands and t-shirts. You can find a list of stores that sell Tanner's stuff on her web site; Sirens & Sailors in Los Angeles and Cog & Pearl in Brooklyn both stock her goods. The shimmery gold wallet pictured here is $65.

Scout Import Company Crocodile Bags

The Scout Import Company makes unique handbags and accessories of crocodile skins (in accordance with the Convention on the International Trade of Species) from Central America. The bags have suede linings and come in two styles, a baguette, called the Granada, and an envelope, called the Telica. There is also a card wallet and three sizes of bracelets. The simple styles highlight the beauty of the crocodile and the products are available in a wide variety of styles. Scout Import products were recently featured at a pre Golden Globe trunk show for celebrities. The bag shown here, the Granada, in ginger, sells for $630 and 10% of the profits go to social development programs for the poor in each country that the goods come from.
