Holition, Online Shopping's New Virtual Tool

One of the big problems with online jewelry or watch shopping is that you don't get the pleasure of seeing what something would look on you. A new company called Holition seeks to change that with a 3D virtual reality application which basically acts like a mirror. It merges the jewelry on the screen into a real-time video of the person so that the piece looks like it is actually on you. All you have to do is be in front of a web cam and wear a simple marker. The pieces can then be swapped out at the touch of a button. It's not going to replace the thrill of going into the store and trying things on but it does offer a new level of interaction in the online experience. The product was debuted at this year's Baselworld and the recent Coutts jewelry week in London. This isn't the first virtual shopping experience to be offered but it is appears to have the potential to be a lot more satisfying than using a virtual model. Check out the video on the Holition website.
