Clara Kasavina Bling Bling, Handbag of the Day

The words "bling bling" conjure images of something gaudy and over-the-top, which I don't think is appropriate for this lovely little bag. Obviously vintage-inspired, the 'fabric' of this metal-frame bag is created from linked Crystals, forming an open weave of jewels over the silver lining. More crystals dot the handle and the clasp is set with a large Swarovski Crystal accent. Measuring 8"W X 5½" D, this perfect party bag sells for $900.

Kim White Large Travel Bag, Handbag of the Day

And now for something completely different. Kim White's Brown and Cream Large Travel Bag is made from recycled automobile upholstery. This particular fabric came from a 1974 Plymouth Fury and features a subtlety colored pattern that looks a bit like vintage wallpaper. Trimmed in brown leather and accented with gold, it has a large zipper top and two interior pockets. As you might expect from recycled car seats, some of her bags are a bit garish. But I think this one looks soft and feminine. $380.

Glenda Geis Aqua Bella, Handbag of the Day

I discovered Glenda Geis while browsing at Alison Nelson's Chocolate Bar, where they offer two of her limited edition bags filled with gourmet chocolates and teas. They are both lovely, as are all the other designs at Layla Grace, but it is this one that I love and must have. Typical of her bags, the Aqua Bella features a beautiful vintage fabric donning a simply styled frame bag. With a removable blue leather flower, very little hardware and a plain strap, the bag is spare and clean, yet still stunning. Even the interior of this bag is gorgeous, with a contrasting fabric in blue and brown and a single zip pocket. Because these bags are made from vintage fabrics, each one is a limited edition. $270.
