Vertu Racetrack Legends Box Set

When Vertu first announced their Racetrack Legends phones, which pay homage to some of the world's most famous tracks, the company planned to sell them individually, releasing only 1000 of each of the six designs. So far, only 4 of the 6 designs have come out. To appeal to collectors during the holiday season, Vertu has just released a very limited edition Racetrack Legends Box Set that includes all six of the phones in a carbon-fiber box. The box also has three trays with cases for headsets and other mobile phone accessories. Only 51 sets will be sold. Price: £30,000 (approx. $59,000).

The list of the five most expensive phones of 2006! Erm, that is, the phones we've written about. So get out those check cards and make someone really happy this holiday season!

5. The world's first luxury phone company launched in 2002, the London-based subsidiary of Nokia called Vertu, and we loved what they've been doing. Not only do its phones boast superior electronics, but the shells aren't too shabby either. They say the reception is "as clear as a Mozart symphony," and they phones' near-indestructibility comes from metals like titanium and aluminum and precious stones like sapphire and ruby. These celeb-magnets run from about $10-$20K.

Signature Duo Vertu Phones

The newest addition to the Vertu lineup is the Stainless Steel Signature Duo. This tri-band GSM mobile phone is built to last and is, in fact, almost unbreakable. Not only is the case made from stainless steel and Titan, but the display is made from a scratch-proof 69.25-carat sapphire. There are also rubies inset under each button on the keypad. In addition to looking good, the phone also offers superior performance with a 116 x 148 screen resolution, AKG 20mm speakers and up to 200 hours of battery life. An external antenna is option for enhanced reception if you tend to venture into remote locations frequently. Price: $14,833.

Boucheron for Vertu Phones

They don't make them like this in the U.S. These crazy and beautiful phones are the Vertu phones created by Boucheron are going on sale in India. The phones feature ornate jeweled snakes, your choice of either a diamond-studded cobra or a python. Other phones in the Vertu Signature Diamond Collection come in gold and diamonds but only the Boucheron phones feature the snakes. The phone on the left is the limited edition Signature Cobra which sells for $350,000 and will only be cast in 8 pieces. I know, I know, it's wasteful, but wouldn't this be the ultimate phone to be carried by an villainess in a superhero movie?

New Vertu Phones

Two new Vertu phones for racing fans. Vertu has announced their Racetrack Legends series. The first two phones in a series of six which pay homage to legendary tracks are Monza and Silverstone. The phones are available in limited, numbered editions of 1,000 each and feature racing tread rubber details and a map of the track laser-etched on the phone. The Monza is in red and the Silverstone is in green. They have also come out with a new color for their special editions, a summery azure blue (shown after the jump).
