Gillet Vertigo.5 Spirit

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Say hello to the Gillet Vertigo. A Belgian supercar made by a former racing driver, you're not likely to see a Vertigo down at the local country club. But it's bound to outrun anything you do.

The previous version of the Vertigo packed a relatively modest V6 engine from Alfa Romeo with 350 horsepower. But because the car is so light – less than 1,000 kilograms – it was capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.26 seconds. Now the Vertigo is back with a new V8 engine sourced from Maserati packing 420 horsepower and promising even more extreme performance.

Official pricing has yet to be revealed, but the outgoing model started at around $265,000.

Vertigo Fireplace

Traditional fireplaces require so much space, upkeep and ventillation that they just aren't in the cards for many homes, especially not if you live in an apartment or condo. The Vertigo Fireplace, from West Country Fires, has none of the drawbacks to a tradiitonal ireplace and can still fill any room with warmth and light. It is a gas-powered fire that is flueless and needs no ventillation to run safely. In fact, it uses a unique catalytic system that burns the "odorous and stale air in the room and efficiently return warm and neutral air back into your airspace." The Vertigo comes with a template to mount it on the wall. Price: $2,450 (£1,299).
