Versace Leather Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

Versace pink shoulder bag
Think spring! That's what this pretty pink Versace Leather Shoulder bag says to me, and it does so without any floral patterns or appliques whatsoever. It's a nice blend of uber-feminine and modern-chic with it's girly color, chunky gold hardware, and studded strap details. It comes with a hefty chain-link strap, large designer-stamped plaque front and center, twist-lock closure detail, and press-stud fastening for the fold-over flap front. Inside its lined in beige satin with one zip pocket. Overall a very 'edgy Easter' look perfect for pairing with your favorite spring sundresses. $1,395

The Fashion Statement: Baby Bumps and the Red Carpet

There is serious baby fever in Hollywood. Starting this Sunday at the Golden Globes, more baby bumps will be taking a turn on the red-carpet than you can shake a stick at. Victoria Beckham. Natalie Portman. Penelope Cruz. Gretchen Mol. Mariah Carey. Jewel. Pink. Jennifer Connelly. Rachel Zoe. And, just yesterday, Kate Hudson announced she had a bun in the oven. With so many expectant celebs, TV show Extra compiled a list to keep everybody's due date straight. We're, of course, more concerned with what they'll be wearing.

You might think this many women with child during awards season could foil a designer's grand ambition to see his/her couture gowns on the red carpet. Think again. Designers have pregnancy down. Remember Catherine Zeta Jones in 2003? The word "luscious" came to mind when the nine-months-pregnant star walked the Oscars in a low-cut chocolate-colored gown with beaded straps. And it was a coup for Versace.

My friend and colleague Amy Tara Koch published a book last year called Bump It Up and, in it, are great style tips courtesy of designers and fashion insiders.

"Half of pregnancy has to do with attitude," Filipa Fino, accessories editor at Vogue, told Koch. "I just refused to give in to feeling dowdy. And therefore, I did not look dowdy!"

Versace To Head Back To Japan

In 2009, Versace pulled out of Japan during a time that saw several other luxury brands changing their luxury plans in the region. The fashion company had stores in Osaka, Tokyo and Chiba. Versace shut down its boutiques but at the time left hints that it might come back; a statement said that the company had decided to "close them and start with a clean slate." Now Versace is ready to give Japan another go. WWD reports that Hiroshi Saito, who was president of Jil Sander Japan will be the chief executive officer of Versace Japan. The Versace, Versace Collection and Versace Jeans lines will show up in department stores in Tokyo and Osaka starting with the fall 2011 season. So far there has been no mention of new boutiques but a lot depends on the Japanese economy and whether or not the Japanese luxury consumer is ready to embrace Versace style again.

There have been some indications that luxury is back in Japan. Sales of Rolls-Royce cars are up and Tiffany recently announced that sales in Japan rose 11 percent.

Versace Patent & Suede Boots

Versace Patent & Suede Boots
Versace is all about sex appeal. Their clothes are created in such a way that they wrap around a woman's body and enhance everything. It's difficult not to notice a woman wearing a Versace vixen dress. And the same can be said of their shoes.

Take a gander at Versace's High Heeled Boots ($1088). Styled in suede, navy patent leather straps run across the vamp and toe box with golden studs and grommets that nicely break up a sea of purplish blue. There's slight ruching at the top making for a subtle accent if worn with jeans or skinny cords tucked in. Additionally, Versace's High Heeled Boots have an almond shaped toe, which always seem to make your feet look smaller - if that's a concern. My favorite accent is the hint of vixen red around the dark wooden cone shaped heel. These sexy boots would make for a bold alternative to your basic black and brown fall boots.

Versace Patent-Leather Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

Versace Patent Leather Handbag
There's certainly no missing this bag, especially if you carry it against a little black dress. Versace does metallic in bright jewel-toned blue and highly polished patent leather on this Patent-Leather Small Shoulder Bag. The bag boasts a chunky silvertone chain shoulder strap, turn-lock closure on the fold-over front, double patch pockets on the back, and (the best part) a functional over-sized hinge for a top. The interior is lined in brown suede, which is pretty and always luxe to the touch, but I'm not crazy about the color choice. Nevertheless this bag is a gorgeous alternative to carrying a clutch. $1,895

Versace Leather and Suede Bag, Handbag of the Day

This bag feels like royalty to me. Called simply the Leather and Suede Bag by Versace it features a solid square shape with a rich purple inset and textured black leather surrounding, all accented with little silvertone hoops that look like scalloping. There are also small designer plaques where the double top handles attach, a detachable shoulder strap with chain accents, tabs at sides, a magnetic snap closure, and a two-tone interior made of beige satin with purple leather pouch pockets (and one zippered one). A whole new kind of pulled-together glamor. $2,950

Mick Jagger's Model Daughter Shoots Another Sexy Ad Campaign

We've been following young Georgia May Jagger's career with considerable interest since she first broke into the modeling scene in the summer of 2008. Since then Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall's genetically gifted offspring scored a gig as the face of Versace and posed for luxury denim brand Hudson Jeans. Now Georgia May has been tapped for Hudson's newest ad campaign as well, shot by Mario Sorrenti at Alder Manor, a restored 1912 mansion in Yonkers, New York. The sexy snaps are some of the young stunner's most provocative yet, with Jagger posing topless in most of the shots. "Georgia May is a true embodiment of the spirit of the Hudson brand," Ben Taverniti, creative director of Hudson Jeans, tells Vogue UK. "She doesn't try, she's just cool. She has that certain Je ne sais quoi."

Versace Presents a Peek at Fall Fashion Week

Versace's readying the bright lights and big runways for its Fall Fashion Week collection, and it's teased a behind-the-scenes, black-and-white shoot by Mario Testino to get you ready. And if the fashions don't get your attention, Valerija Kelava (caught last week in Prada's campaign), Iselin Steiro and Anna Selezneva probably will.

Versace Medusa Doctor Bag, Handbag of the Day

Versace Medusa Doctor BagThe Versace Medusa Doctor Bag is a gothic masterpiece.

This black Italian leather bag is lined in emo purple and adorned with a sculpted head of Medusa (Versace's signature icon). The goldtone studs provide a luxe contrast to the raised black dots which cover the surface. The metal closure at the top helps it keep its smart shape, even at 18½"W X 12½"H X 6¼"D.

This is one of those rare pieces which encapsulates the gothic look without being over-the-top. The prim look of a doctor bag, with its clean lines and classic appeal, is easy to carry with almost anything, and won't make you look like a disgruntled teenager.

We'd love to spot this on a well-to-do woman -- just a flash of her dark side.

The Versace Medusa Doctor Bag is available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $2,175.00.

Versace Studded Leather Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

versace studded leather shoulder bagBiker chic? Is there such a fashion category? True Versace is a label to be coveted but I'm not so sure about this combination of matte pale-gold studs and black leather cutouts. If you feel like you've been seen as 'Little Miss Nice' lately this bag could at least give your look a bit of an edge. Trimmed in neon lime-green with a cream-colored satin interior, many useful pockets, a single top handle and fold-over flap with magnetic fastening Versace's Studded Leather Shoulder Bag can be worn as a large clutch or conveniently slung over your shoulder (as it's name suggests) for $1,795. Versace Launches New Luxury Touchscreen Phone

versace phone
The last few years the rush of designer phones seems to have cooled off a bit but that hasn't stopped ModeLabs from creating a lavish new touchscreen cell phone with Versace. The luxury mobile device has a sapphire crystal screen that is said to be the largest single piece ever offered in a consumer device. Gold plating and high-tech ceramic or handmade lacquer construction options add to the luxury look. The Versace Medusa logo is displayed both on the leather back and the front of the device. The phone is an LG device with a three-inch display and five megapixel camera. It offers Dolby Mobile surround sound technology for high quality in ringtones, MP3 music files and video with 30 hours of playtime. It will be sold through watch and fine jewelry networks and Versace flagship boutiques worldwide from early June 2010.

Versace Block-Color Python Bag, Handbag of the Day

Versace Block Color Python Handbag
A bold and lovely way to 'get your spring on' this season is the Block-Color Python bag by Versace. Featuring fresh seafoam green and lemon yellow paired with tan and white accents, this bag is all about texture and contrast and gives off an upbeat whimsical vibe without necessarily looking silly or childish. The leather and chain shoulder strap can be hidden away and the fold-over front features a stamped clasp fastening. Other features include silvertone hardware, ruched sides, and an interior lined in white leather and satin. Fresh and beautiful for $2,895.

Versace Baroque-Print Sunglasses

versace Swirly and Chic
Hot off the runways in Milan, Versace is launching their Fall/Winter 2010-2011 sunglasses. These swirly-chic pieces are both Maison and Alice in Wonderland inspired, and feature the house's classic, elegant baroque renderings and raised bas relief technique Versace Medusas on the sides.

A far cry from the drugstore prints, these acetate-framed shades easily complement most ensembles, including contrasting patterns. Check out the hot colors in the gallery below to see how rock and roll this look can be. Accessories like sunglasses are always a fabulous way to update a stagnant wardrobe of safe staples, and the perfect way to sport a high end brand without spending too much cash -- these will only set you back $190.

The unmistakable Baroque-Print sunglasses are available in Versace boutiques now and will be hitting other stores in May.

The Fashion Statement: All in the Family

oscar and moises de la renta

When it comes to fashion, families rule.

In Manhattan yesterday, Moises de la Renta, son of Oscar, debuted his very first collection, a limited edition T-shirt line called MDLR for a Spanish chain. Moises has been widely quoted for saying his designs meld his father's classic aesthetic with a younger, rock and roll edge. He said he went after traditional romantic themes: "from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in somber colors such as rose, violet, grey and black to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between." For between $36 to $50, snag an MDLR T-shirt at Mango stores this month.

Famous fashion families seem to be popping up everywhere. Pasadena sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy have zoomed into the fashion stratosphere in a relatively very short time with their Rodarte brand. Actress Sienna Miller and her sis Savannah are having success with Twenty8Twelve. And, of course, there are the Olsen twins with The Row and Elizabeth & James. Mother Tina and Beyonce Knowles run the House of Dereon. And Nathalie Rykiel has been working alongside her mother Sonia for decades.

Just a few weeks ago, Madonna is betting a tween line she's designing with daughter Lourdes Ciccone (called-what else?-Material Girl) will ring the registers at Macy's.

Tony Duquette Rug Collection Launched by Roubini

"They are crazy rugs but that's what I like," says Michael Roubini of Roubini Rugs. Since 1985, his family's rug company has been partnering with designers to create special collections. Being Italian, they started with some of their favorite Italian designers such as Missoni, Roberto Cavalli, Versace and Fornasetti. Last week they added a new, bold-faced name to their list of collaborators.

A reception at the company's New York showroom launched its newest line in partnership with the Tony Duquette company. Duquette (above right), who designed sets for Fred Astaire musicals, jewelry for Tom Ford and costumes for Broadway plays, in addition to a host of lavish interiors, passed away in 1999, but his business partner of 25 years, Hutton Wilkinson (above left) has carried on the venerable "More is More" mantra of the interior design business.
