RSVIP: Count Down to Oscars, Day One, The Costume Designers Guild Awards And More

drew brees and snoop doggOscar Week, day one: Deja vu. It had only been a matter of weeks since RSVIP, based in Manhattan, traveled to Los Angeles for the SAG Awards. And while snow had canceled my initial flight to the SAG Awards, yet again, at 4:00 a.m on February 21, the streets of Manhattan were freshly blanketed with the slippery white stuff.

Nonetheless, a brave cab driver agreed to head for JFK, and American Airlines was still flying. In fact, the flight landed at LAX in plenty of time for RSVIP to drive a rented Chevy HHR directly to the airport in Santa Monica to catch the Cartoon Network's Hall of Game Awards, taking place that afternoon at Barker Hanger.

Bleachers facing the Astroturf arrivals carpet were filled with shrieking tweens, and on the tail end of the NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles, the Hall of Game Awards, hosted by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, included numerous famous athletes and child stars.

A low-key Drew Brees, left above, wearing dark blue jeans, mentioned to Luxist that he has two sons at home, "a 2-year-old and a 4-month-old." Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers wore a black ring, edged with diamonds, with Roman numerals on it. We asked if it was his prize from the Super Bowl. "This is my wedding ring," answered Jennings. "I don't even know if that ring is designed yet."

The Fashion Statement: Worst Fashion Disasters of 2010

When you think of the greatest fashion disasters of all time, you think of Bjork's swan in the '90s, Cher's evil bird slash cage gown in the '80s and Barbara Streisand's see-through pajamas in the '60s. But 2010 could be the year of the biggest fashion train wrecks of all time!

This year was filled with more fashion faux pas than any of the aforementioned could rack up in a lifetime. Style missteps are an astounding feat these days when you consider that celebrities have an army of stylists, fashion designers panting for exposure and, one would think, a mirror or two.

Of course, at the top of the trashy heap is Lady Gaga and her meat dress she debuted at the MVA's. Aside from assaulting our senses and pushing animal cruelty in our face, she wants us to feel sorry for her because she feels like a piece of meat?

Venus Williams was another grand slam in the disaster department. She showed up to play at the French open in red and black lingerie. Kinda cute idea. Problem was the skin-tight shorts she wore under the getup were the same color as her flesh causing everybody to think they saw her butt cheeks.

Celebrity Clothing Lines Hanging By a Thread

Thanks to the imploding economy, once-thriving clothing lines from celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker (above), Ashley Judd, Venus Williams and LL Cool J could quite possibly go out of business, AdAge reports. Following the worst holiday shopping season in four decades, numerous retailers that partnered with the star's brands are going bankrupt or being liquidated, taking the celebrity clothing lines with them. "Even before the economy went bad, the market became over-saturated with celebrity brands," Victoria Brynner, CEO of Stardust Visions, a boutique entertainment-marketing service that brokers celebrity endorsements, tells the magazine. And Dan Butler, VP of merchandising and retail operations at the National Retail Federation, says more celeb lines will inevitably disappear.

Among the high-profile victims so far:
Sarah Jessica Parker's Bitten clothing is left without a retail partner, as the Steve and Barry chain went bankrupt int November and will liquidate all 270 of its stores this year.
• Tennis ace Venus Williams' Eleven line, Amanda Bynes' Dear line, and surfer Laird Hamilton's Wonderwall brand are all casualties of Steve & Barry's bustup as well.
Ashley Judd's eponymous clothing line will likely go down with Goody's, which is being liquidated with rights to Judd's brand being auctioned off along with Goody's bankrupted stores.
LL Cool J's apparel line is on life support at Sears, and is now being advertised at up to 50% off online. Same-store sales at Sears were down 12.8% in December.
