Aston Martin Racing Luggage by Globe-Trotter for Hackett of London

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Luxury Cars & Autos, Men's Style

Hackett, the classic British clothing and accessories company that's the official partner of the Aston Martin Racing team, has come out with a new line of Aston Martin Racing luggage created in collaboration with Globe-Trotter, makers of fine travel cases since 1897. Part of a new collection of Hackett luggage designed by the famed firm, the hard-sided Aston Martin cases are finished in classic British Racing Green with leather straps, handles and detailing. The Aston Martin logo and British flag are featured on the outside while the interior is lined with Union Jack fabric. In addition to the Aston Martin range, the collection includes black Mayfair cases with a Prince of Wales checked lining, and the navy blue London range with a blue and white Bengal stripe interior. Prices start at about $750 with monogramming available for an additional $120. Last year The Classicist wrote about Hackett's full range of stylish Aston Martin Racing clothing and accessories.

BRM V7-38 and V6-44 Union Jack Watches

BRM V7-38 and V6-44 Union Jack Watches
A French watch brand making a British themed timepiece? Say you what?! It is true. Perhaps ancient rivalries don't last forever. High-end independent French watch maker BRM is about to release a new set of two watches with the Union Jack on the dial, and the design theme of the flag. The watch is really quite cool, and I think important for BRM. The neat race car and motor sports technology themed brand was shining for a while by failed to innovate over the last few years. While this watch isn't new technically - just a new design on it - it helps make the brand hip again.

The watch will come in two sizes and be under two different model names. Both pieces have steel cases, the 44mm wide version is going to the V6-44 Union Jack, and the 38mm wide version will be the V7-38 Union Jack. With the flag design being a stylish look in pop culture, the piece is due to be of interest outside of the UK as well. However, the piece is said to launch exclusively in the UK. Likely to be a limited edition, but I am not sure of how many pieces, or the price. Love that red, white, and blue leather strap.

Union Jack Collection from Viscount David Linley

Filed under: Cigars, Decor, Men's Style

union jack linley
The latest design from bespoke cabinetmaker (and nephew of the Queen of England) Viscount David Linley is a line of elegant accessories featuring an inlaid Union Jack motif. Consisting of a humidor, jewelry box, tea caddy, cufflink box, and large and small picture frames, the exquisite and extremely British pieces pieces are finished in walnut with the flag artfully rendered in a marquetry of burr oak, burr walnut and ripple sycamore. Like Linley himself, the Union Jack boasts a royal lineage; the flag originated in 1606 after King James I of England was crowned, uniting the kingdoms of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The humidor, for about $2,000, is lined with Spanish cedar wood and has a built-in humidifier and hydrometer to preserve cigars. The jewelry box, for about $1,800, is lockable and lined in red faux suede with a compartmentalized, removable tray. The tea caddy, for about $1,000, is available in a limited edition of 25 pieces, and comes complete with a supply of Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend loose leaf tea. The cufflink box, for about $650, is lined in beige faux suede. The picture frames come in a large and small size for about $440 and $400.

The Classicist: Barbour's British Sporting Style for Spring & Summer

Filed under: Apparel, Sports, Men's Style, The Classicist

barbour spring/summer
This season famed UK outerwear company Barbour has come out with a collection inspired by a classic British summer sporting escape to the country. Building on the brand's impressive heritage – the firm, founded in 1894, holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and HRH The Prince of Wales – the new designs are attractively updated with bright bursts of color, functional detailing and innovative fabrics and finishes. Lightweight outerwear is offered in multiple fabrications including 4 oz. waxed cotton, carbon coated, Duralinen, washed cotton and cotton twill. Fine knits, casual layers and shirts are inspired by polo, cricket and rugby, while other new styles draw from Barbour's long association with international motorcycling and fly-fishing. Distinctive contrast lining designs and reversible quilt and blouson styles round out the new offerings.

There are new additions to each of Barbour's collections: Heritage, Contemporary, Classic, and Sporting. Within the Heritage collection, styles based on Barbour's original motorcycle racing designs explore new lengths, detailing, and lightweight fabrics. A range of T-shirts celebrates the British motorcycle trials heritage. Fine, lightweight midlayers, casual polos and cotton knits add plenty of contrast pattern and color. A new Dry Fly multi pocket casual jacket style, offered in wax, carbon, Duralinen and cotton twill, is adapted from the firm's fishing archive complete with pockets and "D" rings, and its more functional counterpart is introduced into the active Sporting range. Barbour's iconic quilting fabric is reversed to provide shiny statement quilts and gilets such as the Fast Back reversible quilt inspired by 1960s styles, in a bright Atlantic blue.

The Contemporary Collection has evolved from the more classic Barbour garments to become a slightly edgier and more modern wardrobe in its own right. With a slimmer fit and the use of fresh modern fabrics alongside traditional waxes, the designs are perfect for those who wish to take their Barbour-inspired life beyond the country. Key new Contemporary designs include a cotton and linen Sapper jacket with a vintage-inspired Union Jack pattern liner; a short Harrington Blouson jacket in flyweight waxed cotton with a stowaway hood; and a Carbon Durham Kagoule hooded sailing jacket (above) with embroidered Barbour ensign flags on the sleeve, available in yellow, navy and red.

Leathe Union Jack Clutch Alexander McQueen
Patent leather in a bright hue of royal blue meets with shiny silvertone hardware and a hardcore silver skull to blend pretty with tough in the Leather Union Jack Clutch by Alexander McQueen. This hardbox style clutch is paneled with a union jack design and has a matching royal blue leather lining on the interior. The push-fastening skull closure features transparent crystal embellishments and dark pink glass pearl eyes (although they look gray/black to me). No detachable handle, no interior pockets, just straightforward style in true clutch form. A great way to incorporate the current skull trend into your wardrobe. $1,350
