Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver Watch New Colors For 2011

This is possibly one of the best values in a women's jewelry watch. For about $15,000 you get a gold watch with diamonds, a nice mother-of-pearl dial, and a Swiss mechanical movement. It helps that it is pretty fun looking as well. For 2011 Ulysse Nardin adds a few new colors to their Lady Diver watch collection. Colorful watches are a big deal this year as well. Seen here are purple, red, and blue version of the watch.

For me the color trend is interesting. It used to be that a high-end item needed to look really serious. As though to spend a lot of money you needed feel some elated sense of purpose. At some point people got a lot less scared when it came to charging a lot for an item and realized that people with money will pay for nice looking fun things. It doesn't matter than you can get a pink watch for $50 or $50,000 - it is all about how the buyer feels when they get it and wear it. For that reason I think it is OK to have a baby blue luxury watch.

The Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver watch is 40mm wide (large for a lady's wrist). Inside the watch is a UN-810 automatic movement. The dial has a wave texture on it, and diamond hour markers. While the dial is actually a bit simple, it is legible and does help keep attention on the design of the case. There are more diamonds on the bezel and still more on the middle lug section. If these colors are too much for your tastes but you still like the Lady Diver, there are more simple toned white or black version - and those with different dials. Look for the 2011 Lady Diver blue, red, or purple watches soon.

Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver Black Sea Watch

One of Ulysse Nardin's new Maxi Marine Diver watches for 2011 is the Black Sea. It isn't wildly different from anything we've seen before, but furthers the brand's exploration of dark watches and vulcanized rubber. The case is in steel that is coated with vulcanized rubber. The matte tone has a smooth texture and offers a unique look - plus it won't scratch things that rub up against it. The entire watch is done in black tones save for the bold red accents on the dial. The hands and hour markers make a hip statement against the black background. I wonder if Ulysse Nardin was debating between "Black Sea" and "Red Sea" for the name.

Otherwise this is another Maxi Marine watch with a (I believe) 43mm wide case and rubber strap (with black metal segment). Inside the watch is a Swiss automatic movement, that has the time, subsidiary seconds dial, date, and power reserve indicator on the dial. Really a handsome and cool looking diver watch. The Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver Black Sea watch will retain for $12,900.

Ulysse Nardin Watches Throws A Show & Tell Event In Boca Raton With Its First US Boutique Opening

There is risk and there is reward, but during December's Ulysse Nardin event in Boca Raton Florida there may be only reward. Opening up a dedicated boutique for the first time in a specific market can be a challenge and a risk. It is an expensive endeavor and failure can hurt your reputation as much as it can your bottom line. High-end watch brands tend to do only one thing well – and that is make watches. Being sales people isn't always their bag.

Lucky for Ulysse Nardin that they don't need to worry much about managing the store with their name on it. They opted for a cleverer means of opening their first US boutique store. Have a successful existing dealer in the area do it for you.

Sprightly and young for a man of his wealth, Bobby Yampolsky who owns and runs East Coast Jewelry can claim to operate one of the most successful watch selling businesses in the US. An existing Ulysse Nardin watch dealer, he was chosen to have the honor of starting and operating the Ulysse Nardin boutique. In the Boca Raton Town Center Mall located relatively close to his main store in South Florida, he put on quite a show for the boutique's opening event.

Ulysse Nardin Dual Time Limited Edition Watch For Thai Airways

ulysse nardin watch
High-end Swiss watch maker Ulysse Nardin helped Thai Airways celebrate their 50th anniversary by creating a set of 50 limited edition watches. Ulysee Nardin Dual Time watches have an excellent two timezone feature that allows the wearer to moves a second timepieces ahead or back with ease using the two pushers on the left side of the case. The watch also has a "reference time" that can be used to recall your home time. Having two timezones plus the ability to easily switch between timezones is quite useful to frequent travelers, and thus makes it the perfect base for a watch meant to celebrate an airline.

The 42mm wide steel watch was available with a metal bracelet or alligator strap and displayed the original version of the Thai Airways logo (that was used from 1960 - 1975) on the watch dial (that doubles as the subsidiary seconds dial. Not sure about current availability, but airline memorabilia and Ulysse Nardin watch collectors will love this high-end limited edition watch.

Ulysse Nardin Executive Lady Dual Time Watch

Ulysse Nardin Executive Lady Dual Time Watch
Using their popular UN-24 "dual time" automatic movement, Ulysse Nardin released this female version of their Executive Dual Time watch. Though not perhaps inline with traditional Ulysse Nardin aesthetic, the Executive Dual Time collection has been a good seller for the Swiss brand. The dials all have have segments of mother-of-pearl, matched with various colors (such as the above watch in purple). Also note the available diamonds on the dial.

The second timezone is located "digitally" on the left of the dial. That is the second timezone hour indicator, and the minutes are read with the main minute hand. There is also a "big date" indicator and subsidiary seconds hand. Nice looking and functional right? The case is 40mm wide and available in steel or 18k rose gold. The white bezel is in ceramic, as are the pushers on the left of the case to change the second timezone. The strap is either in white rubber or alligator. The Executive Lady collection is unique in style and mixes modernity with some classic aesthetics nicely.

Ulysse Nardin Hammerhead Shark Limited Edition Maxi Marine Diver Watches

Look closely at the dials of these watches and you'll notice that the standard wave pattern has been replaced with a series of repeating hammerhead sharks. As far as I can tell, these limited edition watches are literally just made in honor of the ancient fish. Ulysse Nardin feels a connection with hammer head sharks and wanted to solidify that in wrist watch form. The Hammerhead Shark collection includes four different watches. Each is a combo of either steel and titanium or rose and titanium. Each combo comes on either a metal bracelet or a rubber strap. The titanium and steel models are each limited to 999 pieces each, while the titanium and gold models are limited to 350 pieces each.

Aside from a the shark theme and imagery, the bezels have a unique design to them, but the rest is classic Maxie Marine Diver. The watches are 45mm wide, 200 meters water resistant, and have Ulysse Nardin automatic movements with the date, subsidiary seconds dial, and a useful power reserve indicator. I quite like the two-tone version in rose gold and titanium - it has a nice sporty look that feels luxurious without being too showy.

Ulysse Nardin Monaco 2010 Marine Diver Limited Edition Watch

Once again Ulysse Nardin is a sponsor of the Monaco Yacht Show (Sept. 22-25), probably one of the most important yacht shows around (ritzy ritzy!). Each year they have a special limited edition watch for the event, and this year the piece take a dark, sinister tone. The watch is in all black save for some midnight blue elements on the dial (hands and some of the markers). The steel case is actually covered in a matte black vulcanized rubber coating. This has been places on other dive watches in the past (think IWC), and it makes for a cool, professional type of look. Aside from perhaps parts of bezel, there will be no glitz to this watch. The case is 45.8mm wide (200 meters water resistant) and has a rotating diver's bezel and a rubber strap with a black ceramic link in each end. The clasp is also in black ceramic.

Inside the watch is a standard Ulysse Nardin automatic movement (UN-26) with a subsidiary seconds dial and power reserve indicator. On the back of the watch you can see the movement along with a special "Monaco" image on the sapphire exhibition window. The Ulysse Nardin Monaco 2010 Marine Diver watch will be limited to just 100 pieces.

Ulysse Nardin Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 Limited Edition Watch

The sequel (that won't replace the original exactly) to the Ulysse Nardin Freak has been officially announced. It will be called that Ulysse Nardin Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 limited edition watch - that I originally announced in prototype form here. The major advancement in the Freak Diavolo over the original Freak is the addition of the tourbillon. In the article I linked to, you can see a video of the watch in operation. It looks really cool. The watch has no crown and is operated by the bezel and the rear bezel (for winding and time adjustment).

You can see a few changes were made for the final version of the Freak Diavolo, including the yellow colored seconds scale near the tourbillon and the addition of the "Rolf 75" part of the name. "Rolf" refers to Rolf Schnyder, the owner of Ulysse Nardin. His autograph is engraved on the lower part of the case. A fine idea, but really sort of detracts from the overall look of the watch. If I was wearing the piece, I think I might always mistake the signature for scratches on the case. And why the 75? Because the Freak Diavolo watch will be limited to just 75 pieces.

The impressive movement is something which I covered before, and isn't simple to explain. The innovative "minute hand" is part of the movement itself, and the movement further uses a lot of silicium parts - something Ulysse Nardin did for the first time with the original Freak back in 2001. The manually wound mechanical movement has more than 8 days of power reserve. The case of the watch will be offered in platinum. Look for the Ulysse Nardin Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 limited edition watch soon.

Ulysse Nardin Spasskaya Tower Watch

For proud Russians living outside of Russia, Ulysse Nardin offers this new limited edition Spasskaya Tower watch. Why for Russians outside of Russia? Because historically, limited edition watches made in honor of a certainly country or region, are almost exclusively purchased by people living outside of that place. Spasskaya Tower has a very interesting history. Originally built back in 1491, the tower is one of the Kremlin Towers in Moscow now. Overlooking Red Square, Spasskaya has been part of the scene in Russian history for a long, long time. In honor of the tower, Ulysse Nardin transformed their Maxi Marine into a wrist watch version of the tower clock. The hands and hour indicators match the clock perfectly, while the rest of the watch is all Maxi Marine Diver.

Case is 43mm wide in 18k rose gold (WR 200m), and the watch contained a Ulysse Nardin calibre 26 automatic movement (base ETA). The movement has a subsidiary seconds dial, date, and power reserve indicator, as well as being COSC Chronometer certified. The case is matched to a rubber strap that has a few links in it. As Ulysse Nardin is the most popular luxury watch in Russia, a watch like this makes sense. Not sure about price, as well as the number of piece in the limited edition. Don't expect it to be cheap though... that might dishonor the great tower!

Ulysse Nardin Classico Lady Watch

Complimenting the newer Ulysse Nardin men's collection of Classico watches, they have released a lady's version. This one has a diamond and jewel created exotic bird. It is supposed to be emotional, but I am not sure it is more than just a bit gaudy. In addition to the jewels the dial is made from a complex to make enamel. The 35mm wide case is in 18k white gold. While the design of the dial is a bit blase for me, I can't deny the jewelry-like effort involved in producing it. what I do like is the shape of the lugs and the crown with a ring of sapphires around it. The blue of the sapphires and the enamel melds nicely with blue alligator use for the strap (starting to get more popular these days).

Inside this ladies watch is an automatic movement with a decorated 22k gold rotor. It is visible though the caseback sapphire crystal, and is likely more impressive to see than the watch dial itself. All of the parts are in the right place and I am sure that with the next version Ulysse Nardin will supply the Classico Lady watch with more impressive dial imagery.

Ulysse Nardin Classico Watch

ulysse nardin classico
Seemingly following in the footsteps of Vacheron Constantin, Ulysse Nardin steps away from aggressive modern style watches with this throwback timepiece aptly named the Classico. Forget the cheesy, super market pasta sauce sounding name and you get three versions of a pretty decent watch. The 40mm wide case is done in either 18k rose or white gold, and is water resistant to 50 meters. Dial colors include silvered, black, or blue. Design is right out of your grandfather's heyday. If it suited his type well, how wrong can you go?

The watch has a good movement too. An in-house made UN caliber 815 automatic movement that has been COSC certified, with a solid 22k automatic rotor visible through the sapphire caseback window . Good thing it has a date as well. Some of these throw-back models are too minimalistic for my taste. I prefer a date on watches personally. Here the petite window is nicely framed in gold. The sunburst polish on the dial is a nice retro touch as well (also the lug design). Pleasing as well is the fact that the hands and luminant covered, and there are lume dots over the hour markers. The alligator straps are brown for the pictured version, while the black and blue dialed versions are matched to black and blue straps respectively. Should be available soon.

Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Camo Diver Watch

ulysse nardin maxi marineThis little number came out a few years ago, but a few are available floating around on the net. A watch like this is the very definition of fake militarism and merely attempted style. Apparently camouflage isn't out of style, at least where ever most Ulysse Nardin watches are sold. This limited edition of 50 pieces watch takes everything you know about the Maxi Marine Diver and tries to hide the dial! Naw, you can still see it. I must admit camouflage looks sorta cool, even on a watch, but more in a gimmicky sense. I simply can't stomach the idea of taking a luxury dive watch, and making just the dial (or any of it really) "camoued" out.

Ulysse Nardin tried to further "harden" the look by making 43mm wide case steel and black. If I didn't know better I would say the watch is cool - but only if you are a bad-boy type with an obese trust fund. Inside the watch is the Ulysse Nardin automatic caliber UN-26 movement with a power reserve indicator and subsidiary seconds hand. It also also been certified as a COSC chronometer. The hour and minute hands, as well as the hour markers are thick and easy to read. Certainly a unique and easy to love (or hate) watch. Original retail price was about $7,000 and prices now are somewhat more or less given the highly limited state of the watch.

Ulysse Nardin Monaco YS Maxi Marine Diver Limited Edition Watch

Ulysse Nardin says "I love you Monaco" with the Monaco YS Maxi Marine Diver watch. The principality is the locale for many a sold luxury watch, so luxury brands are keen on showing Prince Albert, the sovereign of Monaco the love. This time the watch is pretty nice, though far from original as it is just a redressed Maxi Marine Diver watch. Unlike the recent Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Black Surf Diver watch that I recently discussed, while both of these watches share black tones, the Monaco YS watch does the black with DLC (diamond like carbon) coated over the steel.

Like the Black Surf, this watch has 18k rose gold accents, just not as much of it. The watch also feature gray colored lume on the dial for a more stealthy look. There is also the "Monaco" branding on the dial. This Ulysse Nardin Monaco YS Maxi Marine Diver watch also has the UN caliber 26 automatic Chronometer movement with power reserve, and comes in a limited edition of just 100 pieces. Ceramic links are placed into the otherwise rubber strap. Pretty much everything else is the same as the outgoing Maxi Marine Diver watch, expect for the price, that will be more.

Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver Black Surf Limited Edition Watch

ulaysse nardin maxi marine
Another day and another limited edition luxury Swiss watch. This time a new color for the Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver, with the "Black Surf." Remember how everything is the "new black?" Well there is still the old black as well, and it is just as gifted as ever when it comes to fashionably fitting in.

The watch takes the standard Maxi Mariner Diver watch and gives it a nice black and gold overhaul. The roughly 43mm wide case is in 18k rose gold, while the dial, bezel inlay, and strap are all in black. I've always liked the combo of black and gold, but the look isn't always easy to pull off.

There are two versions of the limited to 500 pieces edition of the Black Surf Diver watch. The difference is in the metal link in the otherwise rubber strap that is either black or gold. Depends on your tastes of course in which you'll prefer. Inside the watch is the nicely executed UN-26 automatic movement that has been COSC Chronometer certified, with the time, date, subsidiary seconds, and top-mounted power reserve indicator. I've always enjoyed the layout of the dial, and it emulates the nautical instrument theme well. Expect prices to be a bit more than the mainstream Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver line of watches, as this a limited edition timepiece.
