Epic Elite Jet

Epic Aircraft's entry into the very light jet market is the twin-engine Elite. The Elite made its first flight earlier this month. The carbon-fiber Elite uses two Williams Jet FJ-33-4 engines and can cruise at 412 KTAS and travel more than 1600 nautical miles with a payload of nearly 1700 lbs. The cabin has leather seats with lavatory and mulitmedia options available. The Elite will be available as a six-seat experimental category jet in 2007. The six-to-eight-place certified version of the jet is scheduled for 2009. The Epic Elite will make its official debut July 23 during AirVenture in Oshkosh.

The first plane announcement of the new year comes from Tecnam, an Italian aviation company. AV Web reports that they will build a new plane, a light twin called the P2006T, which will sell for under $300,000. The new P2006T will have retractable gear and hydraulic constant-speed props. It is expected to cruise around 147 knots, 53-knot stall, an empty weight of about 1,400 pounds, and a useful load of about 1,000 pounds. It is a four seater with an optional glass panel and two Rotax 912 engines with 100 hp each. The first flight is scheduled for September 2006 and customer deliveries are expected to start in 2007.
