Paris To Get Tall Twin Towers

I've mentioned the ambitious plans for the Paris skyline before. Now Foster + Partners is showing plans for a dramatic new addition. Two new towers, which will be part of a mixed-use development called Hermitage Plaza, are set to go up in the ~~center~~ La Defense area of Paris (thanks, Mike). They will be Western Europe's tallest mixed-use towers and will contain a luxury hotel, spa, apartments, offices and retail space. Construction won't start until next year and is expected to be finished in 2014.

Design for the Infinity

The Infinity, a luxury condo complex in San Francisco, is gearing up for occupancy next year. The complex, composed of two glass towers in the South of Market district, has views of the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco skyline. The modern exterior calls for a modern interior and so Dwell magazine has invited readers to submit design proposals for the chance to design for one of the three main floor plans for the complex. The design budget for each unit is $75,000 and all furnishings must be good to go by November 30. Amenities in the complex include a 5,000-square-foot fitness center with saunas, a lap pool, screening room, club lounge, and business center. There are a few units left and prices seem to hover in the $1 million range with some a bit lower (SocketSite has been obsessively following the doings at Infinity and has lots of great information).

Ireland's Tallest Building To Be Home To Apartments

Windsor House in Belfast, Ireland isn't the prettiest building I have ever seen but it is, for now, the tallest building in Ireland. It will also now be home to luxury apartments. Building company P Elliott, has bought Belfast's Windsor House for around 44 million euros with the plan to turn it into fancy apartments. The building has a prime location in the city business district. Both Dublin and Ireland are becoming home to more and more high-rise complexes and costs have soared in both cities.
