European Tower In Bellevue Washington

Today's development brings a touch of luxury to Bellevue, Washington. The 17-story European Tower offers just one home per floor plus a two-story penthouse. The project is aimed at those who would usually prefer to buy a house. The elevator opens into each floor and only visits one floor per trip so owners have their privacy. The only shared space is the roofdeck. The building will also have fingerprint readers for the garage, front door and elevators so you don't even need to bring your keys.

To give owners the amenities often found in other complexes membership in the Harbor Club and one of two nearby fitness centers will be included with the price. Both the interior and exterior are clean and modern with simple lines and ample use of glass metal and stone. The project should be finished in the fall of 2008. Prices start around $2 million. A press release in March indicated that there were still 12 residences left for sale.

Plans For A Tower In West Palm Beach

Filed under: Estates, Luxury Travel & Hotels

When one thinks of locations for the world's next megastructure West Palm Beach, Florida doesn't immediately spring to mind. The town however may end up as a the home to a Space-Needle-style structure that could head 1,550 feet in the sky and be home to a hotel, observatory, dance club and office space. The West Palm Beach Observatory is one of three proposals the city is looking at for a city-owned piece of land on Okeechobee Boulevard near the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The structure would dwarf all the structures in the area, in fact it would be the second highest tower in the world.

Other proposals include the Palm Beach Financial Center, a 27-level glass tower of curving glass with a hotel, offices and retail space and the Crocker project, a more traditional building with a hotel, office space, condos and a theater. It seems unlikely to me, at least, that the massive tower project is one that will suit the denizens of West Palm Beach but it is certainly an ambitious idea.

Billionaire Plans Skyscraper Home

Now this is a story of real estate excess, India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is building himself a skyscraper in Mumbai as his personal residence. The building, which is the size of a 60-story tower, will only have 27 floors due to the height of the ceilings. Ambani, who is the richest man in India, has a personal fortune of over $20 billion. The home will house his wife, mother, three children and 600 live-in staff. What to do with all those floors? The first six are garage space, a health club will be on the next two and then staff housing will take up much of the middle section. Ambani and his family will live on the upper floors which will be topped with a helipad and swimming pools. The home reportedly will cost $1 billion to create and construction is already under way. It should be finished next year.

Evanston To Face Condo Tower Showdown

The Chicago suburb of Evanston may be facing a battle of the condominiums. Chicago Real Estate Daily reports that there are two large condo projects planned and there just might not be room for the both of them. James Klutznick and Tim Anderson have proposed a 49-story condo tower and right next door Robert Horner and HSA Commercial Real Estate are looking to build a 37-story condo tower. It is seen as unlikely that city officials would give the nod to both projects. Klutznick and Anderson say that their plan is better because their tower would be on the north end of the block away from two neighboring high-rises, and it doesn't involve the existing Hahn Building like the other project but their plan is under scrutiny for its expected 523 foot height. The Horner/HAS structure (shown on the left) is a bit more interesting to my eyes and also has the bonus of a two-story restaurant shaped like a flying saucer that would overlook Fountain Square and would feature a rooftop plaza connected to the square by a grand staircase.
