Gumpert Tortante by Touring Superleggera coming to Geneva

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

You may not have heard of Gumpert. The niche German automaker produces the Apollo,a very rare supercar possessed of much speed but not quite as much style. And so Gumpert has commissioned Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera to create a new, more beautiful design for them.

The result is called the Gumpert Tortante, and it will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. We don't know what it will look like, but Gumpert has revealed that it is a mid-engined V8 "fast tourer" with composite body panels on a carbon fiber monocoque spaceframe chassis. We'll just have to wait until March to find out more.

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Taking Orders for Bentley Flying Spur

At last year's Geneva Motor Show, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera unveiled a dramatic vision for a shooting brake based on the Bentley Continental. For those unfamiliar, a shooting brake is a retro automotive body-style that is essentially a wagon sans two doors, and was a favorite of independent coachbuilders like Touring. The car stole the show, and now the Milanese coachbuilder is taking orders.

The process of transforming a Continental GTC into the Flying Star takes some 4,000 hours of work, and to that end, Touring has hired more staff and invested in new equipment so it can be working on as many as five at a time. It will still take six months from order to delivery, and with production capped at 19 examples, each sells for about $800,000.

Coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera to Launch Bentley Continental Shooting Brake in Geneva

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Earlier this month, we first heard of rumors that coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera planned to introduce a new bespoke version of the Bentley Continental GT. Now, we know that those rumors are confirmed and the vehicle in question will be an interesting shooting brake that will bow at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.

Only 20 three-door estates are planned, and they'll reportedly be built atop the buyer's choice of a regular Continental GT or an uplevel Continental GT Speed. This will be the company's first product based on a vehicle from Bentley, though past models included the likes of Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

We don't have many details on the actual car other than the teaser sketch above and news that there will be two rear seats that will fold independently, making for what we can only assume will be the World's Most Luxurious Six-Foot Luggage Parcel. An electrically operated folding tailgate is also on the menu.
