Hublot F1 King Power Revealed During Chinese Grand Prix

hublot f1 king power

After securing a lucrative merchandizing agreement with Formula One Management last month, Swiss watchmaker Hublot revealed the F1 King. But if its decidedly lackluster, monochromatic design didn't do it for you, this very well might.

Presented in Shanghai during this past weekend's Chinese Grand Prix, the F1 King Power is packed with racing-inspired design touches. Its ceramic bezel is designed after an F1 car's brake disc. The automatic chronograph movement's push-buttons are styled after the high-tech steering wheel on an F1 car. Even the wrist strap is made of fire-retardant Nomex, just like an F1 driver's racing suite. The case itself is made of satin-finish zirconium and affixed with PVD-coated titanium components, and features a 42-hour power reserve. The Hublot F1 King Power will only be made in limited quantities, so interested parties had better act fast.

The Aspen One Skiing Glove And Watch

aspen watch
Watch brands come up with some fantastic things to liven up their brand or products. Here for instance is a high quality skiing glove with a "porthole" for your watch. This is offered with timepieces sold by Aspen Watches, a Swiss luxury brand of Skiing themed watches with the name of the popular Colorado skiing destination. The brand's watch is customizable and known as the Aspen One. The Aspen One gloves, come as a set - and you can even specially order the right glove to have the porthole if you wear your watch on the other wrist. I first discussed the Aspen Watch brand here.

I first wrote about Aspen Watches here, but since then have had the ability to check out the pieces. They are attractive watches, with simple designs that often appeal to American buyers. The dial has the time and a chronograph, with the large watch containing a Swiss ETA 2894-2 automatic movement. The nifty watch holds a secret and the case opens up revealing a compass. While open, you can see the watch movement through an exhibition caseback crystal. There are many styles of the Aspen One watch to choose from. Even a DLC coated case and of course, diamonds.

When shell out the money to get a limited edition Aspen One watch, the brand wants you to feel as though you are part of an exclusive club. As such, you get your name on a little plate attached to an Aspen One monument. Where is the monument? Located high up on Aspen Mountain at 3,267 feet. There is also a special series of indicators around the compass that can be specially uses to locate things while being on Aspen Mountain with the Aspen One watch. Just ask yourself, how much do you love Aspen, watches, and skiing? If you are a fervent fan of the three - this might be a watch for you. Around $40,000.

"Forward in Time" Wooden Floor Clock

Filed under: Decor, Timepieces / Watches

This design strikes me as something out of a dream -- a little curvy and abstract, slightly warped and out-of-whack looking, but in a very peaceful and artistic way. For being a modern contemporary design it also has a nice "warm fuzzy" vibe. It's the "Forward in Time" wooden floor clock, and created by Brian Hubel it's made of thick-skinned black cherry with ebony accents on the clock face. Available in the extremely limited edition of only 5, this clock stands 70"H x 23"W x 13.5"D and goes for $6600.

City Hall Clock

Filed under: Decor, Timepieces / Watches

Simple is often better, and these days it's surprising that often simple is also more expensive. Take this rather plain looking City Hall Clock for example. From Arne Jacobsen it was designed back in 1955 for the Rødovre City Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is one of those situations where I'm sure you could find a more inexpensive look-alike in a department store, but if having an original with the designer's name means something to you then this clock will too. With clean black lines and small circles to designate numbers and minutes, this large but simple clock could make a surprisingly dramatic statement. 17.5" diameter, $441.
