Thomas Prescher is a unique man and watch maker. Exceptionally talented, Thomas Prescher makes old world style relics of wealth, using modern technology. With very little else out there like his watches, he proudly offers watches that cost in excess of half a million dollars - without a precious gem to be found on them. This summer, he has a special invitation open for serious watch lovers. The opportunity to visit his workshop in Twann, Switzerland, and engage in watch making under his careful guidance. In addition to producing some of the world's most delicate and complex watches, his is a craft that few other people can match. In the brands words:

"Thomas Prescher is offering tours of atelier in Twann, Switzerland on this summer. Discover for yourself how a timepiece is developed, produced, assembled and regulated - from raw pieces of metal to a finished piece of art. You will also learn what the various machines do and the techniques watchmakers use to master their craft. Under experienced guidance, you will have a chance to sit at a watchmaker's bench, loupe on the eye, screwdriver and tweezers in hand and try manipulating real watch components for yourself. Practice your fine finishing technique on a tiny steel part and, if you are feeling brave, try your hand a finishing a real tourbillon bridge."

Thomas Prescher Tempusvivendi Qatar Watch

High-end independent luxury watch maker Thomas Prescher presents a new creation from his Tempus Vivendi collection. Right out of his workshop in Switzerland comes the Qatar watch, a timepiece dedicated to the nation of Qatar.

The origins of the Tempusvivendi collection, with their double retrograde hands stems back to the 19th century - seen on only the most luxurious and decorated for clocks and pocket watches. The concept allows for a striking and artistic way of telling the time and providing space for the watch makers to apply imagery to the watch face.

The all gold 39mm wide watch case features an specially made automatic mechanical movement that has been ornately decorated all over. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the automatic rotor is engraved and highly personalized, while the movement itself features hours of traditional style engraving work. Each gold surface is hand engraved as well. The watch is attached to a hand-sewn alligator strap.

Time is read by observing the position of the tips of the two Arab style swords as they move along the indicators. Each sword is individually connected to the movement at the bottom and overall each over and they move down. If you prefer to look at the time as an artistic statement, you can press a pusher located in the crown and the hands will jump back to their "natural" position (as seen in the image). Pressing the pusher again will give you a view of the time once more. The image on the dial is hand engraved on gold and shows an Arabic coat of arms with a sail ship in water, and an island with two palm trees. The timepiece is of the highest craftsmanship quality for dedicated watch lovers of the Qatar region who will no doubt be enchanted by the timepiece as an instrument, and as an honor to their country.

"Handcrafted Time" High-Luxury Independent Timepiece Event In Switzerland

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Events

Swiss makers Thomas Prescher and Angular Momentum have organized a special multi-day presentation of some of the most interesting and exclusive independent luxury watch brands out there. Such makers often struggle to get the message out about their watches, but once their timepieces are known, they are often very well received by the watch lover population. By banding together, they draw on each others' products resulting in what should be a very interesting exhibition of watches and watch makers. The event will take place from June 18 - June 21 at the Angular Momentum Time Gallery (located at Brunngasse 58 in 3011 Bern, Switzerland).

The Time Gallery is a special multipurpose watch store and gallery which is a perfect location to showcase the wonderful watches. Aside from luxury novelties from both Angular Momentum and Thomas Prescher, notable brands will include Svend Andersen, Vianney Halter, Voutilainen, Pita, and Louis Moinet - among a few others as well. In addition to the watches being on display (and for sale most likely) the watch makers themselves will be present during the duration of the exhibit available to discuss their fine timepieces. And excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with true modern masters.

For more information contact Thomas Prescher or Angular Momentum (link to e-mail addresses), or call 41 (0)32 315 28 66.

Thomas Prescher Perpetual Calendar QP1 Watch

thomas prescher watch
There are a few "firsts" for this watch. Included in them is the layout for a perpetual calendar watch, as well as the instant changing of all the indicators. None of that really matters to me, instead I am taken by the unique, but classic good looks in this new watch by the very talented Mr. Thomas Prescher. A independent watch maker in Switzerland, Prescher humbly creates some of the most complex timepieces in the world. He is further the inventor of the "flying triple axis tourbillon" with really can't be fully appreciated until you see it.

This new watch, the Perpetual Calendar QP1 presents the relatively data intensive feat of a perpetual calendar in a simple and appealing manner. Looking at the gold hands from the smallest, the first hand indicates the day of the week (ex. Sunday = 1), the next hand displays the date, and the hand after that displays the month using the hour indexes as indicators for the 12 months. Lastly you have the leap year indicator in digital format at 6 o'clock. All that information, and still the dial looks so clean.

Thomas Prescher watches are made to order - meaning that customizations are welcome. Basic options include a 43mm or 39mm wide case in either 18k gold or 950 platinum. The hands, dial, and alligator straps are all customizable by the buyer. These watches represent ultra luxury and are priced as such. Movements are all in-house made, and the finish of the watches is what you would expect from a watch costing over $200,000 plus, in most cases.
