Bokisch Vineyards Bring A Touch of Spain to California

Spanish wine varietals like Temperanillo, Graciano and Rosado aren't often associated with California vineyards. An article in the Lodi News profiles Markus Bokisch and his wife Liz who are bringing lesser known grapes from Germany, Italy and Spain into an area famous for its hearty Zinfandels. At Bokisch Vineyards they make around 2,000 cases annually and hope to shape consumer awareness of the Spanish varietals. They started planting the varietals in 1999 and have received scores in the high 80s from Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. Bokisch bottled the first Graciano in the United States and the 2004 Graciano sells for around $20.
