The Pierre's $80,000 Valentine's Day Package

It's probably way too early to be thinking about Valentine's Day but if you book it now, it could be one extravagant holiday gift for your sweetheart. The Pierre, the Taj U.S. flagship hotel on New York's Central Park, has created a 2011 Valentine's Day stay that can be experienced by just one couple for $80,000. The package includes two nights in the Tata Suite, the hotel's presidential suite named for the Taj hotel company's founder; cocktails in Two E Bar/Lounge with your choice of festive Champagne or a signature cocktail; dining at Le Caprice; a pre-celebration makeover for him and her at Madison Avenue's Julien Farel Salon and a romantic evening just for two in the Pierre ballroom on Monday, February 14. On that night you will dine on a chef's inspired five-course menu that reflects your personal tastes, paired with the finest Champagne, wine and spirits; dance the night away accompanied by a mood-inspiring dance band; admire your favorite flowers in an arrangement designed by L'Olivier; devour sweetheart cake created just for you by Sylvia Weinstock and receive a diamond gift from Cartier's Love Collection. The idyll ends with breakfast for two in your suite on February 15.

The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel's Presidential Suite Revealed

Last week, President Obama was the first guest in the newly renovated 13 room presidential suite at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai and the hotel has released an image of the suite. The visit was part of the President's Asian tour. The Presidential suite had been damaged in the terrorist attacks two years ago on November 26. Since those events much of the hotel had been under repair and renovation. The 15,000-square-foot-suite includes the dramatic domed living room shown above which has a gold stenciled ceiling and a dramatic crystal chandelier. The suite also has a gym, a business center and a 10-seat dining room.

In the hotel guest book, the President wrote that the United States "stands in solidarity with all of Mumbai and all of India in working to eradicate the scourge of terrorism, and we affirm our lasting friendship with the Indian people."

The hotel has 560 rooms including 44 suites. The hotel first opened in 1903 and has been host to royalty, celebrities and heads of state. The hotel combines Moorish, Oriental and Florentine styles and offers views of the Arabian Sea. The decor melds Indian influences with luxurious touches including alabaster ceilings, onyx columns, silk carpets, crystal chandeliers and a multi-cultural art collection.

Taj Cape Town Opens In South Africa

Your team just won the World Cup, and those who are still conscious are shuffling toward the exits and the airports. But not you – you flew all that way, and now you've got a reason to celebrate, so you're headed to the Cape Town, where brand new Taj Cape Town awaits.

Located in the historic St. George's Mall, even though it's brand new, the Taj occupies two rather old buildings: the 114-year-old Board of Executors and the adjacent, 78-year-old South African Reserve Bank.
