TAG Heuer Carrera MP4-12C for McLaren

TAG Heuer Carrera MP4-12C for McLaren

McLaren and TAG Heuer have a longstanding history. Never mind that the F1 team's drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are both brand ambassadors for the Swiss watchmaker. Heuer took the TAG name when Mansour Ojjeh's Techniques d'Avant Garde – onetime supplier of McLaren's turbocharged Porsche F1 engines and still a part owner of the racing team turned automaker – took it over in the pre-LVMH days. TAG Heuer crafted special watches to accompany both the legendary McLaren F1 and the subsequent Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and has now returned for a new watch to compliment the new MP4-12C supercar.

Based on the Carrera model, the MP4-12C edition features a carbon fiber dial with a large window to see the movement and a big orange zero where the 12 should be (to make it look more like a speedometer), housed in a sandblasted titanium case and affixed to the wrist with a perforated Alcantara strap. The orange detailing reflects McLaren's traditional color, and the 47-jewel Dubois Depraz Calibre 4900 fly-back chronograph movement features a perpetual calendar display. Only 1000 examples of this exclusive timepiece will be made.

You're it with Maria Sharapova's TAG Heuer Eyewear Collection

Filed under: Apparel, Jewelry, Celebrity Design

Your list of personal attributes might not include blonde, 6' 2" and mean-with-a-backhand. There might not be a Wimbledon trophy with your name on it. You might not even be Russian. But that doesn't mean you can't at least look like – kind of – the person who has all of those qualities. To do so, you should probably start with the Maria Sharapova Sunglass Collection by TAG Heuer Eyewear.

Designed by the Grand Slam winner herself, the collection includes aviator frames in motorsports-grade stainless steel, or thick, hand-polished, black acetate large-format frames. That latter variety is available in several trims: black with gray or gradated lenses; ivory frame with blue grey lenses; tortoiseshell with gradient brown lenses; and dark plum with gradient pink lenses. And so that there will be no doubt, her autograph is discreetly laser-etched into the ultra light, shatter-resistant, UVA- and UVB-protected lenses.

The collection goes on sale as of this month, retailing for $250.00 at TAG Heuer Eyewear retailers. Your road to the Grand Slam begins here, and once you've mastered the glasses you can work on that backhand...

TAG Heuer Brings Back the Silverstone Chronograph

Back in 1974, Heuer launched the Silverstone, featuring the first automatic chronograph movement on the market. It became an instant favorite around the Formula One grid, whose drivers wore Heuer chronographs with pride. Thirty-five years later, TAG Heuer has announced it is re-issuing the classic in limited quantities.

The re-released Silverstone will be available in brown or blue with a perforated alligator leather strap. It features TAG Heuer's Calibre 11 movement with Dubois-Depraz module, date window at 6 o'clock and anti-glare sapphire crystal front and back. Only 1500 examples will be offered, with an asking price at $6,500 apiece.

TAG Heuer Presents Limited-Edition Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini

Filed under: Gadgets, Luxury Cars & Autos

Vertu has been hard at work cornering the niche automotive-inspired luxury phone market, but they're not going to have it all to themselves. Because TAG Heuer, creators of the Meridiist mobile, have strong ties running deep in the automotive industry that have included collaborations with Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and McLaren to name just a few. And have now teamed up with Lamborghini for an even more exclusive edition of the Meridiist.

The TAG Heuer Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini boasts a chassis made of stainless steel, coated in black titanium carbide and packed with all the bells and whistles you could expect. It'll only be made in a limited edition of 1963 examples, honoring the year which the Italian sportscar-maker started business, available exclusively from Lamborghini and TAG Heuer retailers.

Bamford Adds TAG Heuer Monaco To Bespoke Line Of Timepieces

Some companies make things. Others make things better. Take for example the Bamford Watch Department. They don't make their own watches. Probably because they know there are enough companies out there making excellent timepieces. What's lacking, in the eyes of the British purveyor of luxury items, is customization options. So they offer a line of Rolex wristwatches – like their PVD-coated Daytona Cosmograph – with a seemingly endless array of color combinations. The watches can be customized right on their website (not unlike premium automakers' configurators on which we've wasted countless hours), and now Bamford has added another model to their portfolio: the TAG Heuer Monaco.

Now celebrating its fortieth anniversary, the square-cased Monaco is one of the most iconic wristwatches of all time. But while TAG Heuer has released some special anniversary editions in various color combinations, Bamford lets you specify everything, from the dial color and strap stitching to the date window and chronograph indices. The privilege will cost you around £5,000, but there's no cost for toying around with the online customization interface.

T.A.G., Charity of the Day

Filed under: Charity, Charity of the Day

T.A.G., which stands for "Turning Actions into Good," is an internet based nonprofit charity with a unique spin: instead of collecting money and sending it on towards a specific cause they encourage people to perform acts of kindness for other people. It's basically a big game of tag! First you sign up at the T.A.G. website, create and print off TAG cards, do something nice for someone, and finally "tag" that someone by giving them a T.A.G. card -- which will explain the website and encourage them to continue the charity by joining and doing something nice for someone else. The site also takes donations and gives out cash prizes for the most creative, unique, and fun acts of kindness done each month.

Modern-twist Vinotagz

Modern-twist is a new design company with an eye for details. Their products are simple, but playful. Their Vinotagz are a perfect example of this aesthetic. The wine tags are made of silicone and easily fit onto glasses and bottles. They are sold in packs of six, each featuring a different design or color, which makes identification easy when they're in use. You can also write on them with a ballpoint pen, simply wiping away the markings when you're finished.

Modern-twist also makes similar lines of coasters and placemats to fully accessorize your table.
