They might look pretty in photographs, and maybe photographers will use them for surreal and especially artistic shots, but what regular person in their right mind would wear these contact lenses with Swarovski crystals embedded inside?
The sparkly lenses were created as part of a Swarovski competition that had over 4000 entries from 92 countries. These lenses won first place, which makes me wonder what did the 2nd and 3rd place winners look like?
Maybe I'm over-reacting. I guess if they really don't feel any different than regular contacts they might be fun for Halloween or something. Maybe.
Normally I think Swarovski jewels encrusted onto household appliances look tacky and ridiculous, so I'm a little surprised to hear myself saying that the Swarovski Jewels Sink collection from Antologia is actually pretty nice. Simple, tasteful, and artistic, the basic white and black sinks aren't overrun with big sparkling jewels so much as they're accented and enhanced by them. Each piece is put together by hand with Signity jewels.
Any kind of jewels on a bathroom fixture are still completely impractical and difficult to clean, of course, but these are nice to look at nevertheless.
Who wants a plain old Mickey-shaped mp3 player when you can have one all decked out with ribbons and Swarovski crystals? The Mplayer Swarovski is the same Mplayer it always was on the inside (1 GB, up to 9 hours of play time), but the outside is now all jazzed up with a variety of different colors, themes, and accessories (this one is called "Little Girl"). Available in limited edition of 500 they're now available in Japan for about $137-$150 each (the standard versions sell for around $50).
3G iPhone, check. Mercedes GLK, check. How to merge the two? Enter a new exclusive "pouch" (more like a Birkin for your cell phone), crafted from white napa leather and glittering in Swarovski crystals to stash your phone. Currently even trickier to come by than an iPhone last Friday, the pouch has been released in a group of just 40 limited editions to be raffled off during this week's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. But they'll come to market in October 2008, along with the GLK, the "compact SUV" (oxymoron, anyone?) that made its stylish debut driving Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall to her first Berlin fashion show.

These jeans by Key Closet look good, there's no doubt about that, but do they look $10,000 good? I have a hard time justifying $50 for a new pair, not to mention for that kind of money I'd really not know where to wear them. But the price tag is just that, $10,000, and they feature hand-drawn designs, over 1,000 Swarovski crystals, and a one carat diamond on each back pocket. Yes, wear these and you'll have a very valuable backside.
The best part about the whole thing is that although they cost almost as much as a new car, 30% of the profits will go towards building a school for under-privileged children in Uganda. That makes them totally worth it, sort of.
Christian Dior has branched out into the mobile/cellular phone universe with the "My Dior" phone, by ModeLabs. It took three years to develop the clamshell, which will be available in two versions: a $5,000 basic version and a $26,000 luxury version, which features a 2.6 touch screen with an integrated media player and is decorated with 640 stones of 3,251 carats of Swarovski crystals imprinted on a crocodile skin case. Ringtones are proposed to be Dior's voice as well as music. Look for marketing to begin this month. This phone is just beautiful, but I'd be terrified of dropping or losing it!
It's not easy to find cutesy stuff for large dogs, I have a 65 pound mutt, so adorable sweaters aren't an option, neither are name brand carriers. I was excited to find this Swarovski retractable lead, it's covered with shimmering crystals and available in a nice assortment of colors. Walk your big pooch in style and be the talk of the dog park! Available online, prices range from $160 (dogs under 20 pounds) to $280 (larger breeds).
If you're still looking for that heart-shaped gift but don't have a big budget for Valentine's Day these crystal pieces might be the right fit for you. Whether you choose a Swarovski crystal heart, Vera Wang With Love Toasting Flutes, Waterford's Heartfelt Stem Vase or other passion-inspired keepsakes, this selection of sparkly sentiments is affordable and still brings a little bling to the occasion. Don't forget a heartfelt note to go with that gift and have a Happy Valentine's Day.
Luxury cars are usually about a fast engine, a smooth ride, and extra features for comfort and convenience, but this luxury vehicle is all about the bling. It's a Fiat 500 Pepita and it's all decked out with a 24k gold paint job, Swarovski crystal studded gear shift, hand brake, and foot pedals, cashmere floor mats (cashmere on the floor?!), and gold painted alloy wheels. Plus you get a choice of seats made of crocodile, snake, shark, skate or lizard leather and an assortment of precious gems to add to the interior. €60,000
We've covered blinged up water before (literally) and the latest addition to the collection is Fillico Beverly Hills. Coming out of Japan, the $100 bottles of water are made of frosted glass with gold paint and Swarovski crystal accents -- and for about double the price you can add gold wings and/or a gold or silver crown to the bottle (shown is a set of "King and Queen").
Not sure why they put "Beverly Hills" in the name, though, since the water is from a spring in Kobe and as of now it is mostly being distributed at the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo.
Changing up knobs and pulls is one of the easiest ways to change the vibe of an entire room, and if you're looking for a new vibe that leans towards the luxurious without going too far these Art Déco Swarovski Knobs and Pulls from Bosetti Marella could be just the thing. Available in a variety of shapes and sizes they're absolutely beautiful in a nice, classy way. Becaues they're jeweled they are bling, but they don't strike you as bling right away -- which means you can get your fix without coming off as tacky.

Bandages for the Heart were designed as symbols of tough times, to represent both the injury and the healing. They aren't real bandages (like these Swarovski ones) for use on actual physical wounds, but instead are meant to be worn as badges of honor, or perhaps inspiration, again and again. Designed by Alysia Dee Kraus, Bandages for the Heart are available in either sterling silver or 18k gold with garnet jewels. Each comes wrapped in a gauze towel for a unique presentation and, if you want to be really unique, you can always opt for the wedding band(aid) version. $250 - $1300
Halloween is still a few days away but the Christmas ornaments are already out. This one is the Swarovski's 2007 Annual Edition ornament. The snowflake-like crystal piece on a blue satin ribbon has detailed facets that duplicate the Swarovski star that will sit on top of the Rockefeller Center holiday tree. Swarovski will donate $250,000 from sales of this ornament to the Starlight Stabright Children's Foundation, a national, non-profit, charitable organization that is dedicated to making a world of difference for seriously ill children and their families. The ornament sells for $70.
Over 60,000 crystals adorn the Topshop dress worn by Kate Moss to the Swarovski Fashon Rocks fashion show and concert. The dress, which is now up for auction, is similar to a 1920's Flapper style cocktail length dress in Moss's personal collection and features hand-beaded Swarovski crystals in shades of silver, gray, and green. The auction started October 19th and runs through the 28th with proceeds going towards the Princes' Trust Charity. No word yet on where bidding stands but the dress is estimated with a retail value around £40,000.
Swarovski crystals are all over everything these days, and interior lighting is no exception. Except in this case we're not talking a crystal chandelier, but crystal used in a different way for unique lighting patterns and beauty. New in a line of contemporary lighting from Swarovski is the Crystal StarLED, the Crystal StarLED Deluxe, and the Atlas Select.
There's a lot going on with these new collections, including both different lighting styles and different bulb arrangements. The one pictured here, the Melody, is one of my personal favorites.
