Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels

Chicago's Elysian Hotel, wants to make sure their guests look good this holiday season. The stylish luxury hotel's Elysian Style Program offers more than just a toothbrush or spare hairbrush for those who might have forgotten a few things. Fashion stylist Eric Himel worked with the Elysian to create the Emergency Style Kit for men and women as well as private fashion consultations both before and during guests' stays.

The curated Elysian Emergency Style Kit is available for both men and women. Items in the women's Emergency Style Kit range from $15-$1,000 and the men's from $170 to $595. The women's kit offers items such as a Donna Karan Black Infiniti Convertible jersey dress; Jimmy Choo Black Gilbert Kid Leather Pumps; MAC Viva Glam lipstick; Wolford Power Shape tights and a red Lanvin Ouloulette clutch. The men's kit offers dressed-up style option like an Ermenegildo Zegna white French Cuff dress shirt; Hermés silk tie; David Yurman Armory cuff links; Gucci moccasins and Byredo "Fantastic Man" cologne.

The Elysian Style Program is available to those who book an Executive Suite or higher and includes access to Himel and his exclusive Shopping Hot List, outlining the seasons' hottest items and where to find them in the neighboring shopping district. Guests can contact Himel for a complimentary pre-stay consultation in which he can provide professional fashion insight and shopping recommendations. A styling session can also be booked at $150/hour.

This move is just the latest in a boutique hotel trend that has fashion moving from stores in the lobby into an integrated part of the hotel itself. The Hudson Hotel has a deluxe vending machine with stylish apparel and other options; the Standard hotels also sell apparel via vending machine. The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles recently announced a partnership with personal stylist and fashion consultant, Aly Scott of StyleChic.

What Your Stylist Won't Tell You

Is your hair stylist being completely honest with you? Chances are she's not, as no matter how close the two of you are there are certain things he or she is probably thinking but wouldn't dare say out loud. Here are a few of the most common.
  • "I can't work miracles. I can give you that celebrity's haircut but I can't give you her face."
  • "This is a business so although we might be friends please call if you're running late. It's just basic respect."
  • "Don't ask me to 'squeeze you in' when I'm already booked. It would mean rushing through or taking time away from others and that's bad for my business and hardly fair to other clients."
  • "I'm a good listener, not a therapist. I know about hair, not relationship problems and mental disorders."
  • "Your hair changes with your hormones so if you're pregnant or menopausal it might not hold curls the way it used to or become brittle and limp. Don't blame me, just see a doctor."
  • "You're lucky children's haircuts don't cost more than yours, and they definitely shouldn't cost less. Kids don't sit still, they kick, and they scream. It isn't easy."
  • "A dollar doesn't buy anything anymore so you should tip at least $3, more if you have long hair or got a special treatment."
  • "A trim is never "just" a trim because it takes both my expertise and my time. Would you let your neighbor do it? Or one of your friends even? No? I didn't think so."

Rachel Zoe's West Hollywood Home, Estate of the Day

Today's estate, first found by the Real Estalker, brings us inside the home of infamous stylist Rachel Zoe. The very slim and very tan Ms. Zoe became a tabloid staple for draping young fashionistas like Mischa Barton and Nicole Richie in long dresses cut to hang off angular collarbones. Rumors of Ms. Zoe's thinness agenda are rampant and when she and Nicole Richie famously parted ways, Richie made references to "Raisin Face," a veiled jab at Zoe's prematurely wrinkled countenance.

The home that Rachel Zoe and her investment banker hubby Rodger Berman own in West Hollywood is a bit small and sexy too. Zoe, who recently published her style tome, A to Zoe, must be looking for a bit more space. The home is two bedrooms and just 2,545 square feet (positively dainty by Hollywood standards). The remodeled mid century home has a plunge pool and spa. The pair bought the home in 2001 for $914,090. key features of the home include walnut floors, a large master suite, a covered dining area in the back yard with a fire pit, and an office/den. The kitchen is a bit blah but this probably wasn't a concern of Ms. Zoe's. As the Real Estalker Mama notes this is a starter home, albeit a pretty swanky one at $2,995,000.
