Saint Honoré "The Line Watch" By CharlElie

When you are an artist you don't need to make sure all your lines are straight. In fact, that is sort of the whole point of its "oops I hit a bump while applying my lipstick" style vertical racing stripe white line on the new Saint Honore watch. Or perhaps this is what lane dividers look like when you are drunk? Joking aside, the artful concept of this watch is pleasant.

Designed by artist ChalElie, this watch is expressionist art. The point of the straight vertical line is to comment on the path-like nature of time. Always moving in one direction. While it might also seem to be constant, it is really moving in the same direction all the time. Around the dial of the watch is a round line. This other white line symbolizes our circular interpretation of the time. Both concepts are equally sound for our lives, and both represented on the dial. The watch is mostly black with white and yellow-orange accents. An interesting piece, and also available as a limited edition only.

While Saint Honore hasn't disclosed the size of the watch, the steel square case is PVD black coated and curved for comfort. It has double sapphire crystals (front and back), as well as decorated Swiss ETA 2824 automatic movement inside. The Saint Honore The Line watch will be available as a limited edition of just 125 pieces to celebrate the125th anniversary of the brand.

Jolie's Out, Elson's In At St. John

When Angelina Jolie was first announced as the face of luxury brand St. John it was a shock for those who had been accustomed to seeing Kelly Gray front the brand for years. Now after three years with Jolie as its face, the brand is switching again to an even edgier model, model and rock star wife, Karen Elson. Elson is married to The White Stripes' Jack White and they have two children. Gray is a blonde, Jolie a brunette and now in Elson they've got a porcelain skinned redhead.

Our sister blog Stylelist has images of the new campaign showing Elson in dramatic poses in black and white clothing, her red hair and deep red lipstick adding a flash of color. The campaign was shot by Greg Kadel and will appear in the February issues of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair.

Blancpain Saint Valentin 2010 Watch

Filed under: Jewelry, Timepieces / Watches

Here is a sketch direct from Swiss watch maker Blancpain showing their upcoming Saint Valentin 2010 watch. This will be their annual women's watch for St. Valentine's day next year. It is certainly an usual looking watch. While it does display the requisite heart for the occasion, the dial looks like a tear drop framed by a bending snake as the bezel. Hopefully that tear drop indicates tears of joy. The diamonds all over the bezel structure look almost like reptile scales - sorta cool.

The dial is in pink and white mother-of-pearl mixed nicely together. Nice round-cut diamonds are placed on the dial as hour indicators, while a tenth diamond cut like a heart sits as the 12 o'clock indicator. The watch case itself will be larger than expected at 33mm wide and 48mm tall - made out of 18k white gold. The bezel will be set with an additional 404 diamonds and 66 pink sapphires. Over 2 carats of stones total. Inside the watch is actually an automatic mechanical caliber 615 Blancpain movement, which is less common for such jewelry timepieces that tend to have quartz movements. In fact, according to Blancpain, the caliber 615 is the smallest automatic mechanical watch movement in the world. This little luxury for the day of love should be available by next February as a limited edition of just 14 watches.
