Shawn Green Drops The Price On His Irvine Home

Last year when I covered this home in Irvine, California as an estate of the day I wasn't aware that it is also a piece of sports star real estate. Zillow says that this lavish estate in Orange County belongs to former Los Angeles Dodgers player Shawn Green and it's had yet another price cut.

The 13,500 square foot mansion is on a 1.73 acre lot with a surrounding vineyard that produces two barrels of wine at harvest. The property is located in the community of Shady Canyon and designed by the collaborative efforts of ForestStudios and Ritner Group and constructed by Pacific Design Estates Construction, Inc. The artsy interiors were designed by local designer, d. Kruse and the property features a subterranean wine cellar and tunnel connecting the residence to the pool house and home theater. The huge gourmet kitchen has a walk-in refrigerator, Lacanche range and a large center island with a pop-up television. It was originally listed at $17.5 million but the price has slowly been dropping. It's now listed at $10.9 million.

Jason Richardson Re-Lists His Oakland Home For Less

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

jason richardsonMove Trends brought my attention to another in the long list of professional sports slow sellers. We first mentioned Jason Richardson's Oakland home back in 2008. Richardson, also known as J-Rich, is a slam-dunking NBA player who has been bounced around the league a bit. He bought the home in 2007 when he was still playing for the Golden State Warriors but since then he's been a Charlotte Bobcat, a Phoenix Sun and currently plays for the Orlando Magic.

He bought the home for $2.78 million in 2007 according to records on PropertyShark.com. The three-story home on .32 acres is up in the hills and has city views. There are five bedrooms, a game room, kitchen with an adjacent breakfast room and sun-splashed outdoor terraces. The home hit the market in 2008 for $3.1 million but now, the home is on the market for a please-buy-me price of $1.95 million.

Jamie Moyer Drops The Price Of His Seattle Home

Filed under: Estates, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

jamie moyerLast weekend professional baseball pitcher Jamie Moer was in Texas for the Super Bowl and his annual fundraising initiative for The Moyer Foundation his nonprofit which has a mission to provide comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress. The Moyer Foundation joined with chef Mario Batali and The Mario Batali Foundation to present "Spaghetti Western", which was held right next to Chef Tim Love's Love Shack restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. The event raised $145,000.

But today Moyer is on my radar for a real estate price chop. Moyer, who is 48 and still pitching (although currently not active due to elbow surgery) is trying to sell his home in Seattle's Magnolia area. He was traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006. He put his home on the market in 2009 for $8.9 million. In December 2010 it popped back up on the market for $7.8 million. Moyer is apparently serious about selling, it just had another price cut, to $6.75 million.

The Tudor style home was built in 1933 but has plenty of modern details including a plush wood-paneled home theater/game room and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven. The home's nearly 1/2 acre lot includes a pool, pool house and four-car garage. Other details include a family room with French marble floors, fireplace and butlers pantry; a living room with a vaulted ceiling; a library and a large master suite. The listing is with Windemere Real Estate.

Former Los Angeles Laker Chris Mihm Lists His Manhattan Beach Home

chris mihmIn the latest case of sports star real estate, former Los Angeles Laker Chris Mihm is looking to unload his home in the professional-sports-star enclave Manhattan Beach, California. The LA Times reports that Mihm has listed at a loss. The home is for sale for $2.099 million but he bought in 2004 for $2.16 million. Mihm played for the Lakers from 2004 to 2009. He later went to the Memphis Grizzlies before being sidelined by an injury.

The home is a newer Mediterranean, custom built in 2002. It has a 25-foot-high entry which must have been great for the seven-foot-tall basketball player. The five-bedroom home has a large master suite with a separate reading area and a large bathroom with dual sink vanity, separate steam shower and Jacuzzi tub. The remaining four bedrooms upstairs each have full baths, and walk in closets as does downstairs bedroom.

Manhattan Beach is full of homes that are very close together. This one offers a little breathing room with a large lot and a pool and spa in the back yard. Other features include coved ceilings in the formal dining room, a game room and an eat-in kitchen, which opens to a family room. There is a two-car garage as well as a one-car garage, each with separate driveways. This property is listed with Chad Fahlbusch of Northwest Realty, Manhattan Beach.

Ray Allen Re-Lists His Washington Home

ray allenOur friends at Curbed alerted us to a change in the slow seller files. Boston Celtics player Ray Allen is trying once again to unload his five-bedroom estate in Carnation, Washington. When he played for the Seattle Super Sonics he lived in the home but he was traded to the Celtics in 2007. We covered the home in 2008 when it was first listed at $6 million and then reduced to $5.2 million. Like many sports stars after a relocation, Allen was unable to sell and pulled the home from the market. Now it's back with a new low price tag. It is listed with Matrix Real Estate for $3.7 million.

Allen's Craftsman-style estate is on nearly 4.5 acres. It's a rather nice home with vaulted entryways, box beam ceilings and a casual style. It is a former Street of Dreams Award winning home and includes a gourmet kitchen, home theater, office and exercise room. The home has a lot of exterior features too such as a putting green, pool, exterior cabana and a sports court connected with well-landscaped pathways. The press release from Matrix real estate says that Allen made several customizations including the addition of an elaborate master suite with a double-sided fireplace, attached office/nursery, two room-sized walk-in closets and a travertine-tiled spa bathroom.

Shawn Marion Offers Superbowl Tickets To The Buyer Of His Miami Home

NBA player Shawn Marion is taking a proactive approach when it comes to selling his Miami home. The Dallas Mavericks player is offering round-trip private jet service (Miami-Dallas-Miami) and four club level tickets to the Superbowl to be held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on February 6, 2011 to anyone who buys his six-bedroom home in the waterfront guard-gated community of Cloisters on the Bay. The deal applies to a buyer who closes by 5:00 PM EST on December 31, 2010 for the asking price of $2,000,000. The listing can be found by visiting http://www.ShawnMarionHome.com

The home is the largest and one of the newest (built in 2008), in Cloisters on the Bay. It has a rooftop terrace that measures more than 2,300 sq. ft.; an outdoor hot tub; two barbeque grills; plunge pool and spa; formal dining room and an entertainment level.

"This villa is more than just a house. It's truly an amazing home for a celebrity, professional athlete, or any other party who seeks the best Miami has to offer," said listing broker Darren Weiner of Antigen Realty.
This isn't the first time we've seen a sports star make a bold move to sell a house. Last year Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez and his wife, October threw in the offer of a Porsche to try and sell their Manhattan Beach, California home when it was listed for $3.6 million. Since then the price has dropped to $3.112 million.
