Artisanal Salt Sampler

When cooking, it's all about the seasoning. Well, of course it is important that you don't burn the food too, but I say good seasoning could probably save any dish. And being that I am more of an "eater" then a "cooker", seasoning is my best friend. For those who are more familiar and skilled in the kitchen, the Artisanal Salt Sampler may be right up your alley. It features 24 jars of salts from all over the world. Choose from black mineral salt, chardonnay oak smoked salt to Mediterranean sea salt for your next cooking adventure. Box measures 11 1/2" x 2 3/4" x 11 3/4" high. Price: $165.

Sarah Hood Five Spice Necklace

Jewelry artist Sarah Hood has many interests and hobbies and she strives to combine them all in her one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Her love of gardening, botany, literature, children's toys, eastern philosophy, and travel all find a place in her creations. In her Spice Series, she combines the natural simplicity of whole spices with silver and glass, to "blur the lines between studio, kitchen, and laboratory." This piece is called Five Spice and consists of just that: five spices sealed in hand blown glass bottles suspended from a gently curved sterling silver bar. This necklace would certainly make an interesting conversation-starter. $780.

Herb's Aromatic Vodkas

Vodka is know for being a very versatile spirit, as it has a relatively plain taste that won't overshadow other flavors - a fact which makes it a great choice for cocktails, as well as for infusions from manufacturers. Some of the more unusual infusions that we've seen recently are from Herb's Aromatic Vodkas. These vodkas are infused with the essential oils of Rosemary, Dill, Fennel and Cilantro, adding unexpected flavors to smooth, grain vodka to bring out a "complexity unlike anything you've ever tasted." They're recommended for martinis to be served with dinner, as opposed to pre-dinner cocktails, and for use in cooking. Price: $29, but it is only available in select retailers in Las Vegas and New York, with new markets to be added over the next several months.

SoHo Spices Large Spice Board

Since spices come in a wide array of colors (and shapes, if you buy them whole), it seems only fitting to display them where those colors can be appreciated. The SoHo Spices Large Spice Board is a wall-mounted storage unit that has 20 magnetic spice shakers that attach to the stainless steel back panel, allowing for attractive and convenient storage. The panel measures 22 x 13 x 1/18 inches. Screws and plastic anchors are included, as are a set of labels so you can keep your spices organized. There is extra space on the board for additional magnets or up to 8 more shakers. Price: $200.

Greek Pepper Mill

If you're a pepper fan, you probably always had a little thing for those giant pepper mills that some restaurants equip their waitstaff with. This 10-inch Greek Pepper Mill may not quite have the size of those models, but it makes up for it in style. Made in Greece, the pepper mill is made of brass and is modeled after traditional brass coffee mills that were once hugely popular in that area of the Mediterranean. The mill's grinding mechanism cracks the peppercorns before crushing them, which exposes more surface area for a more consistent grind and releases more flavor. The grind is adjustable and the handle/lid are removable. Price: $80.

In-line Spice Rack

Spices are naturally colorful, so the temptation to put a spice rack out in plain sight can be strong. Unfortunately, the racks themselves are often cheap or simply ugly, not to mention that they don't take advantage of the decorating possibilities that spices offer. This One-line Spice Rack from DESU changes that, though. It is designed to display spices in a way that will flatter any kitchen with some empty wall space. It comes with 15 cubic, glass jars to hold the spices and has a space that fits a standard olive oil bottle - giving it a unique look and a degree of usefulness that almost no other spice rack offers. It is made of stainless steel and the mounting screws are hidden to make it appear to "float" on the wall. Price: $199.

Ferris Wheel Spice Rack

I love the look of the kitchen gadget. It's a more vertical version of the standard lazy susan spice rack. This chrome rack has glass jars with lids that flip up for pouring and shaking. The jars are filled and labeled with 20 of the most popular spices. It sells for $59.95.
