Space Hotel Planned for 2016
Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels
Russian company Orbital Technologies has announced plans to launch a luxurious "space hotel" into orbit by the year 2016. The four room guest house is planned to orbit along with the International Space Station and will be geared to both wealthy vacationers as well as those looking for a comfortable place to do research in space. The quarters will be cramped (up to seven people in just 706 cubic feet) but amenities like meals whipped up by celebrity chefs and porthole windows for viewing Earth are aimed to make it a comfortable and very unique experience. No word yet on how much a stay in space will cost and as project financing is still unclear the whole thing might fall through and never be realized. Of course it wouldn't be the first space tourism project to overshoot reality but you never know, this could be the one to make it.
